Hey guys quick question, bit confused. after my husband lands hopefully next week, He will need to go back to the us to finish any lose ends there and is waitng to hear for his job here. I know he can go back but my question is he wont have his PR card for weeks, border says they will give him a piece of paper for travelling, does that mean he can renenter canada later? I read that he would need his PR card to come back? just trying to find out and also how long can he leave after landing before he must come to canada? Thanks for any info.

I actualy just flew to Maui for a week without my PR card and the only hickup I had was the officer at the airport was being an ass and sent me to immigration.Once I got in there the officer was nice and said why did he send you in here and sent me on my way.If your driveing there wont be any issue its only when you fly the airline can deny you your flight. But being from the US your visa exempt so they dont even ask any questions.

Thank you Calgary. all this may be mute as he is still waitng for his documentation to be returned to him, for his landing date of june 13/12.. ugh. its sooo frustrating and no one tells you anything. Detroit, has had is PP and photos for his PRC since may 22/12.... only requesting it on the 16th of May as it was.. not much time left. My hubby of course sent with it an epress post paid over night back to him, but we still wait and I keep checking the tracking # but ..... I worry.. But also when he does land, and has to go back to await his job here, how long can he stay out before he needs to return to stay?

It took me a month to get my COPR back.If he is going to go back to the states and work until his job here is ready than I just wouldnt land yet.He will have until his medicals run out to land.So if he isnt ready to stay here full time yet than I would just wait.

Your landing date may be at a later date its hard to say since your PPR was wright at the end of the medicals.

I understand how you feel they gave me the run around for over a year. They only thing you can do is wait for your COPR email and hopefully your land by date is pushed back.I know you didnt want to hear you had to wait but thats all you can do which sucks I know.

Whoops that wright you already mailed your PP and are waiting for it to return. So when you get the return post the COPR will have your land by date.

The date that was on the PPR is the date you have to submit the PP by is this the date your refering to?When you recieve your passport back along with the COPR letter there will be a date on that letter telling you when your COPR expires and you have to land before that date.

Part of the letter received.....

Dear Applicant:
Your application for permanent residence in Canada appears to be ready for visa issuance. Your
permanent resident visa can only be issued at our office in Detroit. It is not possible to have it printed at
another office.
Based on the validity date of your medical examination results, your immigrant visa will be
valid to JUNE 13, 2012, assuming that your passport(s) do not expire prior to that date. The visa
expiry date cannot be extended. If you fail to provide the passport, your application will be closed when
the medical validity has expired. We encourage you to submit your passport as soon as possible to
allow you adequate time to prepare for your move to Canada. If you allow your visa to expire without
having entered Canada, you will be able to reapply for permanent residence in Canada, and a new
application and a new processing fee will be required. Any new application will be assessed according
to the Canadian Immigration Legislation in force at the time that the new application is filed. There is
no guarantee a future application will be successful.
Please submit your valid passport Please detach any expired passport(s) from the valid
passport(s) that you send to our office. Applicants who send their documents by mail must provide a
return address in Canada or the United States to which their passport(s) can be returned (see the
“Document Return Procedure” page attached to this letter). If you do not have a mailing address in
Canada or the United States, you must deliver your passport(s) in person, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to
12 noon. Your passport will be ready for pick up in ten business days.

Good morning everyone.

My wife just got her PR approved and is preparing to make the move up North. I/we have a question. How detailed does the list we need to provide for the customs when she is bringing her stuff over.

Does everything that is in a box need to be listed (i.e. does the title of each book need to be listed and its value)?
Any other pointers would be great.

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard, first congratulations on your wife's PPR... To answer your question, NO it does not need to be detailed by everything in a box.. My informatiion came from one of the immigration/border guards when I called them last week. He said basically can list clothing and $ .. books and $... tools/toolbox and $.. the only things he said to list individual would be big ticket items like tv's and stuff that would have a higher monetary value.. Hope this helps.. good luck
