Call who? My husband, who is in Canada, cannot find who to call and none of the offices in the US will answer phone calls. Where should we call? Our case is almost identical.
1-888-242-2100 thats the # that your husband can call... Ask him to also contact your MP.. The one in his riding!

I'm a little tired of this. I have to interview for a new job next week not knowing if I will be here for a month or six months or forever! I have let the lease go on my apartment because it was up and I thought I was about done. I see my husband who is 2000 miles away in Canada every four months now. Every day I too wait for news. For that email. Or that letter... saying something!
Hi ELOH, Your husband can call Ottawa, but in my experience from calling them they can only tell your husband about your/his file as to what's in Canada, anything going on across the border (US) they can't tell you about or won't tell you either way. I contacted my MP 2 months ago and she has been making inquiries on my behalf every week since. I would say she actually got the ball rolling for us. Your MP office can get information that is not available to you over the phone via the call center agents in Ottawa, My MP spoke directly to the Immigration office .. That is the only way I was able to find out any information. Your husband would be wise to call his MP office for help. Good luck. If you have any questions plz ask either in Forum or PM me anytime.

Just curious, why does contacting a MP help? I understand they will look into but why though?

Your MP office can get information about your application even after it has gone out of country, When we call Ottawa we get call centre agents they can't tell us anything about our files once it has gone abroad. Your MP office can get that information and they have to be responded to within 5 days or so I believe.. I have complete faith in my MP office she has helped us so much..

Okay, that makes sense. Since I got a police clearance document request from Ottawa Pilot Program, is it safe to assume my application is in Ottawa and hasn't been forwarded abroad? I have been approved as the sponsor, and my wife's application is being evaluated currently.

You should receive a letter from CIC stating that you have been approved as sponsor, and your wife's application for PR has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.

Okay, I guess it was buffalo but where would it be now if the office is closed?

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.

Should you need to submit additional information or make any further enquiries regarding the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s), you may contact the visa office by e-mail, fax, or in writing as follows:

The physical file is now handled in Ottawa and the visa is issued by the LA Consulate.

We have no idea on how long it is taking right now previously LA took about 5 months but do to the closing everything was re-arranged...Ottawa never used to take care of Step2 files so we do not have a timeline. Ottawa is processing us all and LA is issuing us the COPR. The positive thing is we are seeing some movement but all we can do is wait.

I think they're asking how long it takes to get the visa AFTER you've gotten the PPR, not how long it'll take to get the PPR? If that's the case, then LA was something like 1 month, not 5. If I've misunderstood, then everything you've posted is about right.

I was pondering this morning and I'm curious about something. With the US, you don't send the actual passport, you send a copy of all the pages. My question is, do they then just mail the COPR or do then send the copied pages back with it? Curious because we wouldn't really have a use for the copied pages (other than some burn paper).

I just got the COPR, along with some of the bits of my application (birth/marriage certificates, photos, a few other things). I did not get the photocopies of my passport back.
