Also, I didn't mean to make people think that e-CAS is supposed to say that they have your medicals. I'm just saying that I (and most of us) do not need to contact them to get our medicals fowarded. It usually happens on it's own. I just intended to point out that they had mine from day 1. So I don't think anyone should contact them premptively. Wait until it appears there might be an issue. Otherwise you probably will end up slowing down and complicating your ap.

thanks giggles...any idea on how long I should give them before I should worry? I checked this morning and my address was in ecas for the first time since they started processing sept.1 but of course, it was the wrong one :(

:( that sucks. Unfortunately, I'm not sure. They state that they don't provide any sort of acknowledgement of address changes or anything so I guess you are just supposed to trust them. It's a terrible way to work, if you ask me.

I really don't understand why some people get approved faster than others... it should just be in order, period. .

Has anyone here mailed off their PP? How long does it usually take to be returned? There's a 30 day max on the website, but I figure that's not the norm time... heck, they gave me 90 days to even start on my app and it was approved less than 2 weeks later, so who knows...

On your first point, I'm guessing when they recieve apps, they are randomly assigned to various VO's. From there, things get processed in order of how each of the officers do their job, which could explain not only different processing times, but differences in updates to ecas. All the procedures in the world probably can't completely eliminate individuality in how the officers each do their job. Just my 2 cents ;)

Second point, I know you are going through NY but my husband sent and had his PP returned from Buffalo within a week, just using express US mail and not a courrier. He did send a self-addressed return envelope.

It would definately not be fair for everyone to be processed in order. Then someone with a full, complete ap who is good to go would have to sit in the queue and wait for someone else who sent their ap in a day earlier but was missing some forms and is taking the full 3 months to return them or whatever.

It probably does have to do with the VO on the case but a lot of it also has to do with how complete your ap is, how many states you've lived in (for background checks) if you've ever been married, how many people are immigrating with you.... etc. A straight foward ap with no extra documents requested are usually all processed within a few months. There are many other factors that can potentially cause a delay, though, and each case needs to be assessed on an individual basis.

Very good point. I was mainly thinking of differences between officers, but everything you mentioned should come into play as well. I would imagine that they all do. We are probably not aware of it. We get so involved in watching timelines we forget all of the other possible reasons for one app to be processed slower than others.

journeyman, you and I are actually a perfect example of what I am talking about :) Similar types of apps and sent in only a day apart. We got our AOR's at the same time and you got your PPR on 8/26 whereas I got a request for more info on 8/25. If I had had enough info in the beginning, that 8/25 letter probably would have been my PPR. But here I am, still waiting. :P and it's all due to documentation, not VO since we definately have different ones as I'm being processed in LA.

So true. However, there is the possibility that another VO officer may have felt you provided enough info, whereas yours is potentially more of a "stickler". That we will never know :D

Anyways, let's hope your glitch doesn't slow you down too much and you will be moved in time to spend the holidays together :-*

You guys are right, of course. I should have been more clear! There are cases here that did have complete apps but are still delayed, those are the cases I don't understand... but you're right, maybe there's something about the case that none of us know about :)

Unfortunately I suspect my husband's application is going to fall into the "take longer" category. Sigh.

He was born in the US. However he's lived most of his adult life overseas (including Africa and the Middle East) and has also worked for government agencies (all US).

I just think his application will look more 'colourful' to the officer and for this reason will take longer than normal.

@journeyman: good point there! Makes you wonder... I hope I will be home for the holidays, too. Thanks for the thoughts :)

@scylla. I agree, it sounds like a "complicated" case, unfortunately :( If he lived in any of those countries for over a year, I think they will also want to to background checks for all of them.. ?

Giggles, yours is outrageous though and you have every right to be upset. Your partner was approved as sponsor, that part was done and done! It states in about a hundred different places on the CIC site that financial matters are not to be considered in Spousal/Family apps. It's ludicrous.

Well, yeah. I am more talking about people who left out something important. I brought my case into it to show how them asking for more info has caused delays when I was right on track with journeyman. I agree with you Vervain, I don't think they should have needed to ask for more info. But ask they did! And what can I do but comply and receive delays. *sigh* Also I can't help but kick myself for not including more information in the first place. We didn't think it was needed but we should have included it anyway :-\

Still hoping for a new letter soon, though :)

But, yeah, my main point is when they ask for more documentation, you are processed slower than someone who hasn't been asked.

613-954-8653 is the fax# for Ottawa RMC? I more than 3 days I sent them a fax and still no answer about my medicals :'(

Question: Should I fax Ottawa to find out if they've rec'd my husband's medical? We requested for DMP to send it Mississauga because we thought that's where we were supposed to send it. I wanted to know if they've got it in Ottawa because when e-cas changed to "in process" it didn't say anything about meds being rec'd.
