Its so hard to believe that it is now 2012 and i still don't have my husband sleeping next to me at night.....

We got our marriage Liscence Nov. 2010, Married on Jan 1 2011. Had meds and most of application ready to go in May 2011....had a few fall back and had to delay sending in app...then we missed signing a few spots (my poor hubby) and then FINALY Sept. we sent it in! And because I live here in Vancouver, BC and my husband lives in Minneapolis MN, for the first year of our marriage we seen each other a total of four weeks!! ITS NUTS!!

Hoping to here something soon!

I 'bugged' them 2 times using the Case Specific Enquiry: one to ask for a letter so I can apply for Hong Kong police clearance, and another to upload my copy of the medical report. Maybe they feel that I'm troublesome and they just don't want to deal with my case...

Thank you! I will use that form to tell them about our baby and also to ask if they have received the RPRF. Maybe they will pick up our file!

Happy to know that you got transferred to NY, definitely would be faster processing than if you were at Buffalo!

I'm assuming this is referring to the immigration photos. What was wrong with them?
Ah see, the guides and webpages don't do a good job of explaining the importance of the RPRF fee so it wasn't you. There is one guide that has sort of a flow chart of the process and it notes that the RPRF fee would be requested toward the end (IF 'x' happened, after 'y' happened, and before 'z' happened, or whatevers). Assuming it had not already been paid upon filing, of course. What it doesn't do at all is explain the importance of paying the RPRF fee along with the other fees at the beginning to avoid delays, and the length of those delays (and the importance of sending receipts after paying......), which people don't always think about.

Where is this guide that you're talking about with the flowchart of sorts?

Hi awor, at this point, I'm physically in Canada. However, I'm officially outside Canada as my residential address is in US (resident alien from Hong Kong). I travel very frequently across the border for personal purposes (once a week or once other week) in the past few years. I was issued a 'Visitor Record' paper when I crossed the border in early January 2012 when I told them my PR sponsorship was approved. Do you think any part of my story makes a case for the file transfer?

Judging by the spreadsheet I've got going, it's good. Can I ask if you are inside or outside Canada?

I hope it would be faster. Though for convenience, I would prefer it be Buffalo if I'm asked for an interview. On the plus side, I have an excuse to travel if it happens. :)

New York, and Buffalo to be specific. :)

But I'm locally in Buffalo! Don't they think that I can drop by and say hi more easily if it's in Buffalo and they ever need me? Or they just want to avoid me bothering them? 8)

Ok, that's why they transferred to NY, since it's still in the same state.

I wonder how they decide which file gets transferred to satellite offices. I live in NYC and my file is in process in Bufallo... Curious.. I second GOGOGO, if I need an interview I'd prefer a visa office that's in the same city. But I'm not complaining. I just want them to process the apps FAST!

My personal view on transferring to satellites is that it's decided randomly. However I wouldn't exclude the idea that if file seems to be requiring too much time in reviewing it then Buffalo would transfer it 'to expedite the process'. I don't remember who it was with a huge file (I think they uploaded the pic of the actual file) and I noticed that the applicant's case got transferred to a satellite as well. So in GoGo's case if they noticed that fbi, medicals and additional docs weren't submitted yet, they decided to transfer it to NY to deal with further doc requests and etc.

Didn't you fill out the sheet with the application that asked which Visa Office you would prefer to have an interview if needed?

I think the sheet said Detroit, LA, Seattle, or New York in Appendix A Document Checklist

You know what I'm wondering? There are a lot of us who have been transferred who have visitor records - in other words, we already have UCIs, we're "in the system" - I can't help but wonder if there's something in their system that speeds it up for those who already have a UCI. Maybe there are some who have UCIs and don't get transferred, or who don't have UCIs and do get transferred, but it does seem the majority of transfers have a UCI. Many of those who aren't in Canada still got a UCI somewhere along the line (probably a previous VR) and it gets attached to their file.

Plausible, anyone?
