Ok so I have been avoiding this thread due to my own personal insanities.. but I couldn't resist checking in :)

first off -Jenn no worries, my email is totally bogged down, but i did look at it quickly on my BB.. Let me know how things go with u..

secondly - I'm royally pissed with CIC. I mean really really angry. While all of you guys have updates on your Ecas, we can't even log into ours.. Well we can using the client ID for the sponsor part of it but that's about it. It just says that they recieved the application. The medicals recieved line hasn't made another appearence since it went missing a few weeks ago for the second time..

finally - my husband's medicals expire in june and no matter what anyone says, feels like i'm at a dead hole right now.. most other applicants had seens some change on ecas when going thru our office (app recieved to in process) but we cant even log in using our file info to get anything. i've literally arrived at a bad place in this whole process. I'm sooo in the dumps and i could care less anymore. I have heard nothing from our visa office and literally waiting for them to drop a bomb on us...

to top it all off my dentist thinks i need to get my wisdom teeth out which is running me up to 1500 dollars minimum.

aggghhhhhhhhhh

BAD DAY!!!

Mel, I think everyone has days like you are experiencing. The waiting and not knowing what is going on is so very stressful that it does get on top of us. Maybe you just need to take a small break and try and go and do something relaxing and fun. It might help give you a bit better frame of mind. Ups and downs are normal, you are just on the down run now. Hopefully you will hear something soon. How long does it normally take for the Colombo office? I think the trip to the dentist just put your stress level over the top. Try and keep the faith as in the long run it will be worth it. It will be a very special day when your husband can finally come to live with you in Canada. ECas is incredibly unreliable and it seems to work for some and not for others. I have seen people go through the whole process and eCas never gets updated until after they already have their visas. It isn't fair as all of us are so anxious for some small shred of news. I do wish they gave more information on eCas and that it was always kept up to date by all the visa offices.

Go have a glass of wine or nice long soak in a bubble bath or long walk...whatever helps relax you and you may find things look brighter in the morning. Hang in there and don't give up the faith!!

Wine and bath was all i was able to retain from that Jen :p

Doesnt help that it's raining cats and dogs here either...

I'm going to the LCBO, getting a bottle for wine and going to soak in the tub and watch a movie on my laptop..

Yeah the dentist did not help one bit!! lol..

Thank you for the encouraging words.. I can't really take off since I'm a catholic and Lent just started for us and I'm kinda cutting back for the next few weeks..

But i didnt give up wine :) So that's a good thing..

If its any consolation, I have had my PPR and still can only log into ecas with client ID and sponsors details. When I try using my name or even the file number its not recognised. So don't be too disheartened.

Thanks Pharoh. In a strange way I do feel better than I did because I know what the problem is and we can do something about it. Also I know it isn't something that we did wrong, he just has a common name (and birthdate!) Just rotten luck I suppose. Still trying to talk him into flying to Canada to get it done quickly. I am not keen on waiting 12 weeks or more but then they might go faster with immigration cases compared to employment ones. Interesting how you know someone who got it done so fast! I might give the RCMP a call to ask if the processing times are quicker for immigration.
Something similar happened to my brother in law. He applied for PR last fall but it was held up when he found out that someone in Canada with the same name and birthdate had a criminal record. He had to resubmit his fingerprints, but I really don't think it delayed him much further. A couple weeks maybe? It would be a shame for your husband to have to fly all the way to canada and back if he didn't have to..

Thanks Bumbledbee. That really helps to know that. We are still waiting for the letter from immigration telling us what we have to do. Can't do anything until we get that. I kind of wanted him to have a quick trip to Canada anyway because he could have had a look at a house that we are really interested in. But if it will only delay us for a couple of weeks, then it may not be worth it. I am curious if we have to send the fingerprints straight to immigration or to the RCMP. It is the RCMP website that says it takes 12 weeks to process but maybe with immigration cases that is different. It isn't really a full check, it is just to prove he isn't this other person so maybe it will be quick. I don't know. Oh well, the waiting continues....

I was on holiday with my wife for 4-5 days. When we got back my wife found a note on the door from the mailman saying she had a package. She went to get it today and was confused to see all our pictures and proof that our relationship is real. Not to worry cause it's ABSOLUTELY AMAZING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife's a permanent resident of Canada!!!!!!!! :D :D :D. We will be moving back to Canada at the end of July. My mother cried when I told her this morning.

Hold on everyone else it will happen. Mark the date down luckiestguy PR March 1. There's no other dates in the letter

Congratulations! Well done on the PPRs, keep them truckin' in I say. It is good news. I'm sorry for everyone else who feels they are waiting forever to hear the tiniest word from their CIC, I know it's frustrating being kept in the dark. We're in the final stages ourselves... but for how long, that's the million dollar question on everyone's minds.

Jen85 - that's just rubbish isn't it, that darn name mixup. You sound like you are staying remarkably patient and dealing with it in the best way possible. I would have dissolved to a puddle of tears by now if it were me. Hang in there, 12 weeks seems like the worst case scenario but I think you'll have the RCMP papers sorted sooner.

Melbell - have you had any advice what will happen if they don't get back to you before the medicals expire? Surely they've got to give your husband realistic time to move (anyone know what that realistic time frame is??) surely it's at least a few weeks (or am I just being naive?).

Pharoh - not long now, breathe, your turn is coming. You'll be up north before you know it.

AOR - Acknowledgement of Receipt – the first official document that says the application for permanent residence status has been received.
PPR – Passport request – Immigration requests passport when they are ready to issue the visa.
DM - Decision made (waiting on letter to confirm)
