Hey All

I have a question, my husband and I applied Outside of Canada for me to sponsor him. Ive read that I can have my husband come visit me while we are waiting for a decision. We've been talking about him coming to visit in Sept or October and staying until we hear back from immigration. I've also read if he is approved and living in Canada he can send his passport from Canada if it is true how does the port of entry work? I was always under the impression that you had to send the passport from inside the US so that when you came to the border with his passport that was your port of entry. Also If he flies in to visit me will he be given a hard time at customs in the airport? Or as long as he has our case number and proof I was approved to sponsor him and our case is in process will he be fine?

I'm sure these are newbie kind of questions I just want to be 100% clear before we make a decision on him coming for a visit or get our hopes up thinking he can visit to find out its a huge hassle

Thanks for your time

Mel

Provided your husband is a US citizen, he is visa-exempt, so yes he can come visit you during the processing. By all means he should have a return ticket and other proof of ties to the US, also it would be good for him to have proof that the PR process is underway, so the receipt and a copy of the sponsor approval letter would be good as well. He can remain in Canada, send his PP to the US for the visa to be inserted and then go to the nearest border and "flagpole" in order to land, if he receives his visa while still in Canada. You should be available by phone, in case Immigration tries to contact you to confirm any information, if you are not traveling with him. Remember, if he's flying up to visit you, or driviing up, he should not be accompanied by all his possessions in the world, they need to believe he is "visiting" not moving in before he has permission (the visa) to do so.

Hi all

I submitted my application on the 4th of this month, recorded for $14 to Missisuaga, it only travel 50 miles or so though. It arrived on the 5th. We are hoping for a smooth uneventul process, considering we spent 10 months getting the pack together, and hope we have dotted every I and crossed every T.

Mel_R if it helps, I,ve have already booked flights from the UK for a couple of months to hopefully sit out the process (on a boat, with a fishing rod in my hand), fingers crossed I dont get a IO having a bad day when I land.

Thanks for the spreadsheet! I am so irritated at the FBI. It's taking longer to get my paper back then last time. Last time, their site said 12 weeks and I had it back in 6. This time, their site said 6, it's been over 8 and now their site says 8. I have a feeling I'm going to end up in the August (or later) group. Grrrr.

Shaun70, thanks for the update. What Visa Office are you applying to? I'll update your info in our July-2011 spreadsheet (attached to my signature below).

cheers.

awor, relax. it's still a long way from here till August. I'm sure you'll get your FBI anytime the following days. I'll keep your spot on our spreadsheet, worst case scenario you'll make it on the next one. Regardless, we'll be here to support each other.

My husband doesnt want to quit his job to come up here to be turned back at the border, so I'm going to visit him at the end of August but we've talked it over and he wont be coming until he gets approved. Which I understand his concerns. I'm a little sad about it but I'm hoping things will go smoothly.

I have my fingers crossed for you Shaun! Keep us posted on how it works out! :D

I sent my paperwork via Fedex. I tracked the package and thats how I know it got there.

I would suggest calling the Immigration Call centre 1-888-242‑2100 if you did send it in 4 months ago they should atleast be able to give you your client ID number. Once you get the number you can go online https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/security.do?app=ecas click the box "I have read, understood and agree with the above Terms and Conditions" click continue and it will ask you your client number, your Surname date and place of birth from there it will let you know where your at in the process.

I hope this helps you out

Mel

A small step for my package, a giant forward step for my application!!

My application package has finally been received at CPC-M, yyayayaayyyayy!!!!

I used UPS and tracked the shipment all the way, at one point I got concerned it'd take a long time or it wasnt going to make it at all!

Luckily it's now in their hands, so let the waiting begin!!! 8)

I'm definitely not going to make it into this group, even if I get the background check next week (my husband still hasn't gotten his option c - thank you strike), so you can remove me from the spreadsheet...hopefully we'll be ready mid-August. I hope everyone has a speedy process!
