After calculating that 68 days from my application took me to last Wednesday, I called the call centre, explained my situation to a lovely lady called Carmelle and she looked up my file no problem, told me that a letter had been sent to us on 28th September (Wednesday) and that my boyfriend was APPROVED as my sponsor!!!
First time I've spoken to the call centre since I applied and they were super helpful.

But more to the point, YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!! ;D ;D ;D

Now to wait until it arrives in London....

Good luck to all of you still waiting - we all know how it feels! ;)

Congratssssss :)

..... I then called my MP and he indicated that people from countries where Canada has treaties get approved faster and my reply is that then all Canadians are not treated equally when it comes to getting their spouses to Canada.

..... He also acknowledged that there does appear to be some ground for discrimination because of the treaty thing. Well this is where I stand. Aneyshar, I think that with your wait time it is probably the same thing. Waiting for verification of a document that was submitted but I feel also for you because of this long wait. We appear to be in the same waiting boat with the same agent. I wish you luck.

magpie, I'm outraged at reading what you were told by the MP!!!

I feel very disappointed for a number of reasons. First, at not getting a definite answer with accurate information way past the CIC's own deadline. Second, CIC's inconsistency at communicating with clients, seems like providing an electronic mail address does not serve any purpose other than getting recorded on the form because they appear to ignore it when the need to communicate with clients arise. Third, if whatever your MP told you about apparent discrimination, I don't have evidence whether that's true or not but having seen the behaviour of the sponsorship approval process (in this forum at least) it gives the appearence that what the MP said has a great degree of being true. Notice how I joked earlier about applicants from the European VOs in general, the UK VO in particular, were invariably getting notification in a predictable manner, whereas applicants from other jurisdictions (except China and India) were coming in slowly if at all at getting approval. Jokes aside, I can't believe that Canada Immigration would publicly claim equal treatment to all applicants when their actual processes and procedures show the contrary is true.

I will continue waiting, and I will continue playing by *the* rules. But it's rather distressing when those rules are not applied equally to everyone.

Good luck to everybody else still waiting for a positive resolution.

"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others." - George Orwell, Animal Farm. Excellent book, if you haven't read it, read it sometime.

Thanks CharlieD. Read the book, seen the movie, and bought the t-shirt... but I rather keep the animals analogy where it belongs and keep the focus on getting past this experience with CIC now.

very well said. by the way, when we called they said our file went in process on 26th of september and it can take up to 1 month to complete. it seems 'spouse sponsorship process' is tougher than 'rocket science' to them.

yes, but usually they finish the process in 1 or 2 days

Finally showing up on eCas... Rec. July 11, Processing application Sept 15... Maybe approval is there but will take another 3 weeks to show up on eCas... When I called them last week I was told that it takes at the most 2 weeks to verify information on sponsorship so approval must be there some where. it has been 18 days since they started on my app. 84 days and counting.
