Hi Maja. :) OAR is the Acknowledgement of Receipt - the first official document that says the application for permanent residence has been received. From what I've heard, not all visa offices send one. I hope that all of ours do!

The timeline for 2nd stage approval is the amount of time it takes them to process 80% of the applications. So... some may be 2 months, some 4, some 6... but, in the case of the Buffalo office, 80% of all applications will be processed in an 11 month time frame. Only 20% will take longer than that.

Thanks a lot to everyone who answered my question...I had been wondering about it for a while. Really appreciate it.
Thanks :)

Wow 18 months for Guatemala???? I find that hat to believe! That's like a year and a half :( I Havnt seen my wife since jul 2010:(

Argh!!! So frustrating... still no letter in the mail, but after fighting with them at the call centre, I got the client ID# and confirmation that it was transfered to the VO in Delhi...

nylalisa, you should be thankful you've heard something and you know for sure that your file has progressed...that's in itself a great news! Sometimes the postal service gets delayed but I guess as long as you know that you are approved, there is no reason to be frustrated..Enjoy and start hoping for the next step to get cleared asap too ! :)

18 months for me too and I too have not seen my wife since may 2010 and my newborn son was just borned on Nov/01/10. I had to leave my wife when she was a few months pregnant and was not able to see my son until now. Im hoping to get a decision before end of the month so I can book a ticket and fly to vietnam to see my wife and newborn baby.

Hi;
We were approved for sponsorship on Jan 6, letter in the mail. I rec'd the letter today (12th) and I'm in Arizona. So 6 day mail time...not bad!
Gratz to those that have heard already and fingers crossed for those that havent yet.

Kaz

6 days isn't bad at all! I was watching for the mail lady all afternoon... When she finally came, she sauntered on past our house as if it didn't even exist.

Maybe tomorrow!

Hehe, I am in the same province as CPC-M and in a major city, I was approved on the 6th and still no letter.... I love Canada Post. Then we wonder why people's packages go missing. Oh well at least I am approved at well... and was able to get my number from the call centre. Oh and I get to look forward to months of waiting now from the VO office... :)

post office works so slow, and yet they ask for raises and go on strike for a slacking job.

As of January 12, 2011 -

Processing time : 45 days

(working on applications received on December 6, 2010)

Hi Pinklady. :) Welcome to the December thread. I've added you to our list. We have 3 other members of this thread headed through the London offices. You guys should all have a good basis of information in each other! Congrats on getting your application in, and I hope you hear regarding your sponsorship application soon.
