k, so i'll let my husband know to be prepared. Also, the address on the COPR form is different than where we live now. I don't know how but they put my old address on there. Is this something my husband should address? and when you say they will send the PR card to the address provided, don't we need to apply for a PR card? cause my brother's wife had to apply for one.
Yes, the IO will ask him to confirm the mailing address of the PR card. Ask your hubby to give your correct address in Canada. This is not an issue.

You do NOT have to apply for a PR card anymore, not that i know of since 2005 or something. First Time PR card will be mailed to the address he provides within 6-8 weeks but these days it is
getting delayed cos of the can strike...my wife is 6 weeks in Canada and no PR card.

You will only apply for a PR card if you make a change in details like surname or renew a PR card and it costs $50...this is after you get your 1st PR CARD.

Ok, I'll let him know to let the IO know of the changes in address. I guess my brother's wife had to apply for PR card because she didn't understand the IO when he asked her to verify the address. She had the same address as my husband did on his form but didn't realize it. Is this why she had to apply for her PR CARD? i don't understand. And she was told she will have to go and pick up her card from downtown toronto.

Her office was ND. My brother applied for her in march 2011 and she landed in June 2011. My brother already applied for her PR card and paid the fee. I'm just confused.

Here is the proof from CIC

he Permanent Resident Card is the official proof of your status as a permanent resident in Canada.

This wallet-sized plastic card is required for all permanent residents of Canada seeking to re-enter Canada on a commercial carrier (airplane, boat, train or bus).

There have been some changes to the look of the PR Card, as well as some of its security features. The new cards began circulating August 24, 2009.

If you are a current permanent resident, you will only receive a new card when your existing card expires. If you are a new permanent resident, you will automatically receive your new card as part of the immigration process.

You can apply for a PR Card if:

you received permanent resident status before June 28, 2002;
you became a permanent resident after June 28, 2002 but did not receive a PR Card at that time; or
you need to replace an expired, lost or stolen PR Card.

If you received permanent resident status before June 28, 2002, you were issued an Immigrant Visa and Record of Landing (IMM 1000). You may need this document to apply for your first, or replacement, PR Card.

Since June 2002, all new permanent residents automatically receive their first PR Card as part of the immigration process.

Check the expiry date before you plan to travel outside Canada. Current processing times for a PR Card application are on this website.

You can also view the service standard for an initial PR Card. This details the specific level of service you can expect to receive under normal circumstances.

so, she didn't need to apply for another PR card? then why did the peroson she spoke to asked her to apply for it? this is not making any sense. It makes it hard because her English is not really strong, and the government official doesn't want speak to anyone but her. So, do you think immigration will refund my brother his $50 for the PR card?

She landed at Toronto pearson, My brother applied for PR after she spoke to someone from immigration canada. They confirmed everything and said fill out forms. They had sent links to my brother and it was for PR application. We thought we're suppose to apply for a PR card and we did. The $50 was paid with the application, just like when you do when you apply for the spouse sponsorship. So, do you think they'll return the $50 or no?

You do not pay $50 with the application...you only pay

Sponsorship application $75
Principal applicant $475
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $ 490

If the sponsor made a mistake and also checked PR CARD Fee and paid $50

You will get a refund, contact them.

Am i right to assume that your brother paid the above 3 and also paid $50 along with it?
