Hi Priti,

I opened it in Scotiabank. They have StartRight program for newcomers. I didn't notice any Indian bank except ICICI Bank. You can google it.

It's better you take travel insurance. I purchased it online from ICICI Lombard. It comes for 90 days. It's not required if you are going to Alberta and some other places. Health insurance is from Day 1, but in Ontario, there is a wait period of 90 days.

SIN card is not an identity card. You need the number to give to your employer. You can get it updated in your bank account. For opening bank account, you just need passport and COPR.

Before ur HEALTH card come if u get ill or some like that u can get medical benefit s there might be very costly charges of doctors.

SIN card is one type of Identity? By which we can open account and other things?

Health card is valid for all provincials or only limited to that province where you got the card ?

My destination is Toronto, but if i land in Calgary and get the health card, will it work in toronto ?

Hello Friends.

For those who have already landed, could you please share your opinion whether we should buy laptop and carry along with us there or will it be better to buy one from there. We need to buy new one now and thinking whether to buy one now or wait for some time and buy from there after landing?

How do you guys get internet connectivity so early after landing there?

Dear Friends,

I am beginning to settle down in the system. Talked to couple of family friends as regards the job hunt. Talked to Senior officer of Canada Trust where I had opened my Bank a/c with a view to know, if at all , an opportunity EXISTED for me, CONSDERING my past work experience nd qualifications .I was asked to submit my resume to see to it if there is any chance for me. The officer also assured to recommend my case to higher authorities.
Besides this , I HAVE STARTED EXPLORING OPPORTUNITY in the field of teaching nd making attempts to gather references so as to facilitate a foot hold somewhere. Let US SEE HOW IT REALLY WORKS.
So far, I HAVE OBSERVED THAT in order to be able to succeed here ,one has to be good at selling one's capabilities. There is nothing succeeds like success. This is a predominant feature which applies to Canadian environment .
wish my friends in the forum all the very best !!!!
Good luck nd May God bless all !!

sm001 ji,
My efforts are on. I am thankful or rather grateful to Kaneman , a senior forum member for his kind help by providing me very useful web links relating to my field. I started working on the steps enunciated in the web links even when I was in India. God willing, I may have a beginning with its culmination into the desired result. As the time passes by, I will keep sharing the development in the forum.
Good luck nd May God bless all !!!
