Net get carried away by the reports on "The Star" or "The Globe and Mail".

Anybody can write reports about immigration anyday on any news papers.

There were concerns going on for over an year about anther huge recession that the US and Europeon countries may face. Nothing happened yet. There were reports every day and even now. Still the unemployment rates is goind down. So good.

We just need to keep the Federal Budget in mind. It will not change this year again. Until then whatever the budget says, VO's have to follow. Internal agenda can be how to deal (like abc analysis) what the budget says.

We are not good enough to analyse the data projects in the CIC website. Being 0111 & 1111 we all know that interpreting data (statements) always are not identical for any experts.

Until we get a strong positve message about medicals & passport request why can't we discuss about our future plans in Canada.

Anybody here propose to do CGA once you are in Canada?

Full time courses in Canada are not like their Indian counterpart.
full time is defined as 15 hrs.
Classes especially in colleges(not universities) are generally 3 days a week.
Not to mention you have different options of night classes, weekend classes, part time.

Plus co-op is a very good option. In this college finds a job for you for a duration of 6 to 12 monthsm which will give a great exposure to canadian job market.

Hi
I think this is greet idea!! would you please elaborate especially about co-op??
with regard

You need to check universities and colleges websites for co-op programs.
Co-op is a govt and private initiative.
Half of the salary is paid by the govt.

In present scenario , canadian manifesto reminds me of election manifesto of Badal government which is impossible to implement.full of lucrative schemes and zero on ground reality.

The provincial govt in ontario provides osap(which is very low interest loan) to more or less all students.
I guess other govt also provides loan for the same.
Not to mention that once you have a PR fees will be in range of 5000 to 7000$ per year, which anyone can afford to pay doing even survival jobs.

as it is Interest In Canada pathetically low

If you compare it with what we pay India ,it will be an insult to even call it Interest.

Yes, that is true. The interest rates are way too low in their banking sector. They may increase it in the near future (sustainability issue).

Jason Kenney' take on backlog in an Interview to The Globe and Mail:

We need to get better results for newcomers and get better results for immigration. This is the most important public policy question of our time.

We need to deal decisively with the legacy backlogs. We took action starting in 2009, and reduced the backlog in half.

But we must do more or we’ll just be carrying forward the backlog for years. We won't be able to get to a situation where we can bring in people with pre-arranged jobs in a matter of months which is what you need if you want an immigration system that is responsive to the labour market.

We’re bringing forth amendments to the immigration act to return about 100,000 applications involving about 300,000 individuals, applications which have been in the system from 2001-2008. We’ll return the application fees.

This will allow us to move to a just-in-time system, a working inventory in our skilled worker system, where in about 18 months, so by 2014, we will be admitting people who apply within months.
