What part of Canada? Everything varies according to where you'd settle.

going to ontario ,toronto or near by cities

taxi will be expensive, way too expensive actually, your best hit is to settle near the Toronto CBD, so you will be close enough to transportation as the bus and metro..

check on this web-site, it offers really a good background for almost everything www.kijiji.ca

thanx to all

Hi mohit,
Since u r thinking to settle in toronto u can plan for missisagua or brampton. Lot of indians there.U can get 2 bedroom flat in around 1000 dollar but since u have 3 yr old child initially u can manage with 1 bhk also which could be 800 $.If I remember right u r a physiotherapist so lot of job for PT and OT there.I am a occupational therapist so I got to know this from my friends there.
regards

All posters before me have given u rightful advice/s. Just to add on it:

1. Which city r u from now? To give u a perspective... Toronto is EXACTLY like Dubai, in all aspects [housing, social/family, food, roads management, traffic etc. u name it].

2. About car purchase: Reasonably speaking, u can spend your entire lifetime here w/out a personal car. The Public Transportation is Great. Cost wise, comfort wise. At least initially [for 1-2 yrs] u definitely may not need a car. Purchasing one is one thing [cheaper than most places], but maintaining one is another ball-game altogether. Insurance premium is a Killer, Fuel is costly, Regular maintenance will give u a Big Dent. But yes, if u r a habitiual roadie, like me, u'll want to have one in any case.

Have a look at the "Cost of Living Table" in this Link:
http://www.livingin-canada.com/cost-of-living-in-canada.html

It is to be read 'Costliest City' [No.1] to 'Cheapest City' [No.140].
U'll find Canadian cities are much lower than many biggies like London, Paris, Singapore, Bombay etc. Read along u'll Love it...

*Surprise surprise... Vancouver finds it's place at 'Cheaper' than Toronto ???? Overall cost wise...
