I am a Canadian so I'll speak from the heart here. This on-line application site they've created sucks. How can the Canadian Embassy toss the job of visas and immigration to a 3rd party? Anyways, the idea of doing it all on line is a good concept. Some people live too far from an Embassy to get there for an interview etc. But the problem lies in this on-line system they have in place here. A system where HEARBLEED has plagued and all they do is "warn" us. Not fix it. A system that doesn't ask questions like, "Is this your 2nd or 3rd time to be accepted for your visa"? Or worst of all, a system that crashes constantly. I've been on 5 computers, 3 different browsers and lowered the res and file size of my documents enough to make them unreadable. Yet, the system keeps failing. Are you stressed? Sure! How many hours has it taken you to try to do exactly what they ask? ie: - all files related uploaded onto one PDF or DOC or JPEG etc. Oh, now the files too heavy. So you reduce the size and now no one can read them. OK, let's contact someone who works there... oh. No one cares. You are a number. You're not a human.
So, I'm stretching things a tad here but come on. Anyone feel like they've been abused? I sure do. But of course I'm not given a chance to sit down with someone and make eye contact. Therefore, I think the USA still has it right. At least they expect a final interview. Someone human who for better or for worse can see where the innocent mistakes are, the attempt and the "try" are. I'm really disappointed in my country Canada for treating people who want to "visit" to feel like criminals. I understand protection and safety and policy. So why let a computer be the one to get in the way of all of that? Let me upload my information and if I can't, let me talk to someone directly!! But then again, can't expect the government to work too hard... Highly disappointed. The company that translated some documents for me into English had a 24 hour chat line and they were so awesome. A government could do the same - or ? Yeah--- in your dreams!
