Hi, my wife and i are very interested in moving to Calgary SE.We fell in love with it when we visited earlier this year. My brother and his family are already there. How difficult is it to find work? My wife is a paramedic and myself a clinical support worker in an emergency department. Any of you guys work in healthcare and what did you find hard about moving to Canada?

Hi,

I don't know how easy it would be to find a job in the healthcare industry, although I do know about living in Calgary.

Right now the vacancy rate for rental property is very low and you'll be paying around $1000/month for a one bedroom, so be sure to give yourself a couple of months to find a place. Although if your brother is generous enough to let you stay with him, that will give you plenty of time to locate your own place. If you plan to buy a property in Calgary, your lender will require a letter of employment prior to approving a mortgage.

All the best in finding work!
Christine

This year Calgary / Alberta over all job market is not open as last year. Due to the flood and inflow of people to Calgary rental rates are gone pretty high. Your brother can also give you some insight if he is living for a while.

We live in Calgary and its getting expensive to rent and buy property now in most places around the City, Check rentals prices and compare this with expected salary before you land so your fully aware of what it like cost wise.
All the best
