AOR Received.
NOV. 22nd 2016 / SA: DEC. 2nd 2016
My wife went for the medicals and they asked for an EMI number. We haven't received such a number other than the AOR1. And on the AOR1's bottom of the first page there's a 'Requirement for Medical Examination". That's why she went to get it done. And they're asking for an EMI number. What is that? Can someone please tell me what an EMI number is? She is at the hospital right about now. :(

I believe it's because of the new process for Family Class, where as of December 15th, medicals can be done upon request only.

Are you sure? can someone please confirm? I mean we applied on November 9th and received the AOR just recently..

Another member tried to make an appointment and was told that December 14th was the last day they could do upfront medicals.

Taken from IRCC: A new application process for the spousal sponsorship program came into effect on December 15, 2016. Upfront medical exams are no longer needed for spouses, partners or dependent children. To help avoid delays in processing, wait for our instructions before going for your medical exam.

You have got to be kiddin me.. I mean that's just yesterday!! And are they going to let me know or my wife? She is living in a suburban area and had to travel for 3-4 hours to get to the CIC specified hospital.. this is frustrating...

So what does this mean? even if we applied in November, do we fall under the new processing system?

I am guessing that they will ask all applicants to wait for a medical request, regardless of when they applied. That's how they appear to be doing.

She can try telling them that it's an upfront medical for family class, they might accept it.

Apparently they didn't. They asked her to come back once she get a number with instructions.

What I don't understand is why would they say that my spouse needs to go to her medicals in the AOR1 then.

See this is the part from the AOR1 that says that.
