Please someone tell me I am reading this wrong!!! The CIC website was updated, as of November 3rd, and now shows processing times in a 2-step processing .... WITH EACH STEP (for in-Canada processing) TAKING 9 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!! That is DOUBLE the time.

Let me know what you have heard or if I am reading this wrong.

You have read it correct! Inland or Outland they both have two steps and yes the application processing times have gone up!

yep, you are correct! =(

They have increased the times...the website says its updated as of Oct 22nd, 2010 for processing times outside Canada page

think they just want people to stop querying their matters so to loosen up time spent on answering such?
so they just give like the average time usually spent on applications.
maybe they want to discourage fraudsters from entering the process if they see the timeline is so long?
but this is hurting real couples like me

well i think this new timeline is unfair, we've been waiting 12 months now and it says our timeline is 18 months. however, had we just waited until 18 months everything would have taken even longer, because his criminal record check was not accepted and nobody told us! Had we not realized something was wrong, I would not have had my MP talk to immigration to get things going again, and we would still be waiting without knowing what we are waiting on. Hopefully that makes sense...lol

The wait time for me is the same. The difference is that they are only posting the time frame in which 80% of cases are completed not the time frame for 30%, 50% etc. like they used to. For example, in my case for Korea 80% of the cases are completed within 6 months. This number has always been there and has not changed. 30% of the cases for Seoul will still be completed in 3 months its just that they do not show this anymore, likely as HoneyBird and Baloo say, to discouraged people from inquiring within the normal time frame. Our AOR letter was quite specific in stating that inquiries made within stated processing times would not be answered.

This cant be true.. Im gettin married in january and applying for PR right away... and now the processing times have doubled?? :-[ what bad luck this is.. and its affecting outland applications too!

I wouldn't put too much stock in it - it says Accra processes in 22 months, Bobshynoswife got hers in 98 days. Sao Paulo where we are processing says 10 months and I know a few who have gotten it in 3-4. I think they just grossly overestimate it to give themselves alot of room.

I think they just changed the format of the website. Most of the times showing now, were the 80% cases. so I think they are just showing, the longggesttt time for processing.

helllo! if you want guys we can write a letter to minister kenney for them to see our burden and struggle, what do you think ? we can lett them know we are having a hard time to be reunited with our family with this long processing.

Not necessarily, My wife was told 9 months, its has been 10 months already and now it says 16 months. So we will see how things go...

Every case is different, these numbers are not set in stone.
Relax, the application will take as long as it takes - sad but true.
