Dear Sir,

I hope you receive my message and you are fine.

I want to inform you that I will apply for a Canadian visa next week because I am participating in the 2024 Professional Youth Conference in Canada in Toronto and I got an invitation letter last month.

What do I want to inquire about
- Can I apply for a study permit to study English for more than 9 months while my visitor visa application is still pending?
- I have learned that visitors in Canada are not allowed to study for more than 6 months without a study permit, and I intend to study for more than 9 months. Should I apply for a study permit now while my visitor visa application related to attending a conference is still pending?

- Yemeni students face significant difficulties in applying for studies in Canada. I am considering establishing a relationship and service point for Yemeni students between Yemen and Canada. Can I do that while holding a visitor visa or study permit? Is there a specific official entity I should visit in Canada to do so?

The last question
- Is it possible to submit two requests for a visitor visa and a study permit at the same time, or will this increase my request for delay in treatment?

Please help me with what I should do and I really appreciate your sincere work and I know that you get a large number of messages.
All appreciation

1. When is the conference? How old are you? Are you a speaker? Processing from Yemen is a long time. Invitation letter doesn’t guarantee anything. Need to show funds, travel history, ties to Yemen etc.
2. You can apply for a study permit at the same time. Make sure it is a DLI and that you show a minimum of $20k plus pay tuition. Chances are low for an English only course. Why not a degree or diploma.

In another thread you asked about bringing your son. What is your true intent? Seems like you have no plans on leaving.

The conference will be held on February 20, 2024. As for my age, I am 38 years old and I work in the field of education and tourism. I am not united, but I presented research on education

In another thread you ask about a study permit too. But now you want to bring your son. What is your true intent? Coming to this conference has nothing to do with education or tourism. Topics are climate change, diplomacy and poverty eradication. You will not get it in time. The conference is only 3 days but you want to come a month…makes no sense. Wanting to see Niagara Falls in the dead of winter, strange. Leave your son behind if you really want to attend.

I have nothing but good intentions and what I want is to learn the English language fluently and develop my work. As for the conference and my desire to attend it, it is a new addition to my professional and cognitive life. I started feeling it's difficult. about my son, He will make visiting for 2 or 3 weeks and back home.

So do you want to study or visit. Choose one. You will not get a TRV in time. Don’t know what you mean about bringing your son and then he will go back home. So you will travel together and then send him home. Why? Your conference is 3 days.

Have you attended a similar conference before in a country closer to Yemen? What is your international travel history especially to countries like US, UK, etc. Who is paying for you to attend this conference? Typically Canada wants to see that your employer or the conference will be cover all or part of your costs. As already indicated you are unlikely to get approved for a visa especially before February. Even if you get approved to attend the conference your child is unlikely to get approved as well. How much liquids savings can you show in your personal account? What other ties for you have to Yemen? Good longterm well paying job, spouse and unmarried children under 22, property ownership, etc. Many people think applying to attend a conference in Canada will make it easy to get a TRV which is incorrect. If your employer or the conference is covering your expenses, you have attended similar conferences in other countries before and are presenting at the conference then your chances increase. Given the current state of Yemen and the number of Yemeni citizens who claim asylum across the world it is generally very difficult to get any form of temporary visa or permit to come to Canada. If you want to apply for a TRV to attend the conference you should be applying as soon as possible for any chance of getting processed before the conference starts.

1. Given the situation in Yemen, It is extremely difficult for a Yemen citizen to get any temporary visa to Canada, study/visitor/WP etc.
2. A conference will only make sense if you have already attended such conferences in other countries within last years. OR you are a academic researcher with published papers in international journals etc.
3. Merging visit for conference with study will be a red flag for the officer to trust that you are a temporary visitor.
4. Taking your son on a conference trip, just because he is excited to see canada, doesnt make any sense!

In my opinion, you can try your luck by
1. Make your son stay back and apply alone.
2. Apply only for attending the conference.
3. Show maximum ties possible to Yemen, like family, job/business, properties, cars, social clubs memberships, acadmeic records, bank balances etc.
4. Current processing time for yemen is 166 days (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...vices/application/check-processing-times.html), make sure your conference date is at least 20-30days beyond the processing date.
5. Write a good explanation letter in tabular form explain each tie to Yemen, make a signed declaration that you will return to your family after your trip.
6. Write a letter about purpose, why this conference, what it will help you, how will it enhance your life, what will you loose if you dont attend this conference.
Even after you give all above explanations, the chances are very slim but atleast you will make a good application.
