You gave me the heads up to apply outland, I am so grateful! 10 days later everything has been gathered and sent in, medicals done upfront and in that awesome 3 envelope layout with all the content lists and tab etc that another poster described in such detail.

I really appreciate your advice, this has such a huge impact on our family. xx

Yes I definitely feel for people who don't find places like this forum, look at the CIC website and think its going to take them 17 months to complete their outland application (along with not knowing you can be in Canada and still apply outland) and then see the work permit option for inland and go with inland.

That is exactly what we were planning to do - and we had even asked an immgration lawyer in Canada!
