Hello @legalfalcon, please provide your suggestion on this issue.
I am a CEC applicant, added spouse after AOR. After 1.5 years, my spouse got visa few days ago and i was asked to wait for my landing interview.
My question is, if I received the Copr, can my spouse come to Canada under the exemption of permanent resident spouse?
Please provide your input.
Thanks

I called IRCC to obtain an update of my application, and pretty much the officer said nothing started (medicals passed back in November), except security which is in progress. How is that possible the last step is in process, while Elegibility is not even started?

Yes. As soon as you get your stamped COPR, you are a PR, and your spouse will be exempt from travel restrictions.

@legalfalcon Hello!
What does the lock-in date mean?
Let's say that I passed the eligibility. Can they ask me to redo the IELTS test if they took so long to process my application (years let's say)? Or once they locked-in my submitted files, no matter how long they will need to process my application, they won't ask me to redo the IELTS?

Appreciate your help!

It is the security screening stage that for some applicants based on their profession or country of residence amongst other factors that times can take a long time. In those circumstances the process can take longer than usual.

That would be fine as long as you have all the require essential details as asked by IRCC, i.e. adequate funds and the 6 months average balance.

Hi @legalfalcon
Another question on Proof of funds. I already received the letter Bank letter with all details, however I also got a bank account statement of last six months for more supporting documents.
1) In the bank statement,I am the account holder however I find my account nominee name is mentioned as my sister. Is that ok?
2) The bank letter is dated 29 Jan,2021and six months statement is up to today i.e. 5 Feb,2021. Is that ok?

Thanks in Advance!!

Not true. If you have served in the military or had a government job, it will be the nature of the government job that will determine what kind of security screening your application is subject to. Only applicants who have specialized military training, who have worked in intelligence services, chemical and nuclear warfare training etc. may be subject to Moree stringent security screening, which may take additional time.

To read on how the security screening is done, who does it, when it starts and whether your security screening is subject to a record check or a comprehensive check, see https://bit.ly/3oU5eN9

The security screening is a part of the BGC, which comprises of criminality and security.

Criminality is based on the PCCs you submit and is done early in the process along with R10, i.e. completeness check.

Lock in date is freeze information so that it does not change over time, regardless of how long processing takes. This is the date when you transmitted your application, and things such as your age, age of your children will not factor in even if they change no matter how longe the processing takes.

All documents, IELTS, PCCs etc. have to be valid as on the date your submit your application, and will remain valid irrespective of how longer it takes to process your application.

@legalfalcon Thanks a lot! In my case, I passed all the assessments and just waiting for the final decision. Let's say that they took more time to finalize my application, beside asking for new medicals and a non expiring passport, would they also ask for something else? Like new PCCs or new documents? Or since i passed everything thing, the only two things they might ask for is only a new medical or a valid passport?
