Hii Legalfalcon,

I am submitting Schedule A along with my eAPR application, and I am slightly confused about one question:

"Have you made previous claims for refugee protection in Canada or at a Canadian visa office abroad, in any other country or countries, or with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)?"

I am a Palestinian Refugee (TO EGYPT) living in Egypt, and I have never made previous claims for refugee protection to Canada. Should I answer "Yes" or "No"?

I can't figure out whether the question is dedicated for refugee claims (TO CANADA) or to any other country as well since the phrase "in any other country or countries" may be just an interpretation for the word "abroad".

Please help, I am submitting my eAPR application soon.
Thanks!

This question specifically asked if you have made a claim for refugee protection to Canada, or any of the Canadian officer in other countries, or with UNHCR.

If you have not filed an application of any Canadian office, or to the UNHCR, your answer should be no.

Hi Legalfalcon,

I just had a query that, while filling up the express entry form,I had mentioned that I will be bringing $16000 for me and my spouse.

Now,do I have to bring the exact same amount while landing ???

or

Anything above the minimum POF for 2 people ($15,143) will be acceptable.

Plz help.

When you land you need to show that you have the minimum PoF ($15,143). Not all applicants are asked to show PoF. But if your are asked, all you have to show that you have the required amount. You can produce the same paper that you submit as your PoF along with your application, or have travellers check, bank transfers etc.

A security check can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to 1-3 months. It varies for each application. Usually the average time is 3-5 weeks. If you already have your security check started, I hope you should have your PPR way before you will need to apply for BOWP.

Hi Legal Falcon,

Last year, I travelled out of my home country (for lesisure and official purposes) twice for 15 days each.

For the first trip of 15 days i have hotel addresses with me where i stayed. i can document that post ITA.

But for the later trip, i stayed at a mutual Friends place, and for that i dont have an address (though i will try to get it, but it will be hard). What shall i document for this in post ITA address History. whats your take on it?

Thanks Legalfalcon for your response, actually i do not know when my security check is started, but as per my notes that i received on October 7,that time i noticed it was started, and my BG check is in progress since June30,does it means security check is ongoing?

Hi Legal Falcon,

As my application was approved. Do I still need to order GCMS notes for my record?

if yes, should I request after I landed or now?

You only need to provide details where you have lived for more than six months. For a stay as short as 2 weeks, just the country and dates are sufficient.

When the security check starts you can see it on MyCIC and it is also reflected on the GCMS. For some applicants the security check goes into progress, then not needed and then back into progress. This is normal. If your MyCIC says your BGC is in progress, then it is.

There is no need for the GCMS notes once your application is approved.

Just putting this here if any senior member can look at the following question and provide some answers that will be helpful. Thanks
