Hi Legalfalcon/ forum members,

I want to ask what is done during "initial review" and what is expected after it?
Pls. shed some light as I am wondering what it really means and where stage I am in my PR app.

Thanks in advance! :)
I have written a detailed post on how an application progresses. You can find it here <http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/aor-in-march-2016-good-luck-all-t400931.240.html>.

Hope this helps!

my R10 was OK and A11.2 was MET in CIO, then it moved to Local VO....any idea what it means or how safe iam? !!!
When an application moves to the LVO it is always a good sign. For outland applicants, the BGC happens at the LVO, so you are all good and your application is progressing.

Hi Legal Falcon,

I have applied though the express entry program and hope to receive ppr soon.
I intend to do a short landing and am not from a visa exempt country, though I know it is not advisable to leave Canada before the pr card is received, which takes about 6-8 weeks.
My question is - Is it ok to ask a friend to mail the pr card to my home country, as I want avoid applying for prtd? Also, I will be getting married later this year - so I hope it would not be an issue to return to Canada witht the pr card. What do you think?

Yes, you can ask your friend to ship your PR card to where you are. I did the same. However, make sure that you plan accordingly. Sometimes, the PR card is delayed, so keep that in mind.

As regards getting married after your get the PR, you will have to apply for a spouse visa, which getting a PR through EE is much faster. The spouse visa takes much longer and you spouse might not be able to enter Canada immediately. If you can, you should add her to your EE application and get the processing together. This will reduce your headache. You can register your marriage and that would be sufficient. You can check the processing times for the spouse visa on the CIC website. Until your spouse gets the visa, she can visit you on a tourist visa, but won't be able to stay more than 6 months at a time.

Below is the proposed sequence of events-
Short Landing
Leave Canada
Have pr mailed
Get married
Return to Canada alone
Apply for spouse visa

Please let me know if this is ok. Appreciate all your efforts in helping people out. Thanks!

I apologize for the delay in reverting back. I am in India until August 23 and the internet here is painfully slow. Although, I have upgraded the connection at my home, I don't have internet access when i am traveling, except the sluggish 3G. If you post a question here, please be patient and I will get back to you. If you have anything urgent, send me a PM and only in extreme cases you can send me an email at manmeet@msrai.com

Please be mindful of what is urgent and extreme. I understand that you are stressed and the wait is killing, please be considerate of my family and social obligations. Earlier I was planning not to answer any questions during my stay in India, but I realized that would be unfair and I will try and answer as many questions as I can, depending on the internet connectivity and my schedule.

Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.

A few of you have sent me GCMS notes. If I have not reverted back, please send me your notes again.

Hi Legalfalcon,

Whenever you get some time, need confirmation on the below CRS related question......
Currently i am in the EE pool (last 4 draws), as you may recollect from our previous conversations....

Details :

  • Current CRS = 481
  • Category = FSW Outland
  • IELTS = CLB10
  • Foreign Work Exp. = 3+ years
  • Age < 30
  • Single Applicant/Not Married
  • I do not know French apart from a few basic conversational sentences - so cannot give TEF for additional points.
  • I have never worked in Canada and need a PR to be able to gain any Canadian experience - so this is also not an option for me.

Hence, my understanding is I cannot do anything to improve my score (outside of Job offer or a PNP) - is this correct ?

If above is correct, then I really just have to sit and wait (take care of other documentation etc..), as score is bound to drop to 481 or below in the next 2 to 3 months sometime.
Getting a job offer/LMIA etc. would be unlikely/time consuming. And Ontario PNP is closed as of now + one needs to wait for them to invite you to apply for that anyway. - would like to confirm my thoughts to make sure i am proceeding in the best way possible.

Thank you !

Job Offer........

Thanks a lot for the reply. I did think of adding her to my application, but that would reduce my crs and would drop below the cut-off for that round, and getting her credentials assessed etc. is going to take a lot of time.
But really, thank you again!

If your file is in LVO then might be your A11.2 is done and waiting for security checks and Visa Officer reviews
OR
A11.2 is yet to be completed .

You can order GCMS Notes to get the clear picture of your application.

My application status seems progressing silently with what u said.
Hoping to receive PPR soon. :)

Thank for your replies, sir.

But do you think where stage (based on your post) is my app after being requested for copy of passport with stamps and Statutory Declaration.
I was requested earlier to submit Sched 4 and Sched A.

Yes, given what you have listed above. Your best bets are to get PNP, job offer or wait until the CRS score goes down.

You are on the right track. I am not sure what your profession is, but do look into other provinces and their nomination program. Apart from that, you have covered everything and all you can do no is wait. Your CRS score is good and it is highly likely that the CRS score will drop and you will be invited. It's just a matter of time.

The only way to figure out where your application is by ordering GCMS notes. I will only be speculation if I say anything, and I don't like speculations. So order your GCMS notes and they will give you a clear picture of where your application is.

I am getting your point sir. It's alright for me if u are speculating. :D
Maybe I just thirst for some good words abt the status of my application.

I am still contemplating whether to order gcms notes as I am reading in some posts that it takes time to have it and it's hard to understand.
Anyway, thank for your valuable time.

+ 1 for u sir!

Ok. will do. my AOR was December 9.
I heard from them last week and they asked for the family info (IMM 5406; although I had submitted one correctly first time) after more than 6 months of no update. Got my second set of notes and nothing has changed on my file except the emails I sent to them.

It's really interesting what the procedure is....
