New owner took over our company, does my Work Permit from the previous owner allow me to work for the new owner? I doubt it's legality but they keep on telling us it is ok.

Pls. Help

Yes, it does.
 
if its an acquisition,merger or consolidation its ok because its only a change of owner not employer as long as the new owner is to be seen as a succesor of interest to the previous one(succed to the assests,liabilties)
so if you are still working in the same location,doing the same job with the same duties and responsabilities then it is completely legal and you don't need to stop working or get new LMO.
the only thing you need to do is send an application to reflect the change of employer's name under work permit,to do this you will need a statutory declaration from your employer attesting the nature of the change along with a press release or any other formal announcement made by the new and/or old owner.
