Hi,

I was wondering if someone could shed a light on this issue.

I applied for a TRV last Dec 2015 and was approved last Mar 2016. The TRV expiry is on Sep 2016. However last Feb 2016 I left Canada to attend family event and came back after 10 days. At the port of entry I was allowed to reenter Canada and was given another 6 months to stay which gives me until Aug 2016 to remain here. My question is, which one takes precedence? The TRV or the stamp on the passport? or in other words, can I remain in Canada until Sept or Aug 2016?

Thank you!

The TRV expiry date is irrelevant once you have entered Canada, that means Aug 2016.

I would say you can stay in Canada and leave by the latest stamped on the passport. However you can apply visitor visa extension before TRV expiring.

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind
