Hi,

My dad is in Canada on Temporary resident visa. He applied to extend his temporary residency and yesterday he got approved. This was an online application. When he logs online, he can see a letter that states that his application is approved and his is allowed to remain in Canada until at specific date. It also states that a secure and official letter has been sent in mail.

The status of his online application is changed to "Closed". All Done!

BUT,

One of the online letters also asks him to go through a medical exam. How can they approve an application without the medical results? or was asking for medical just a mistake?

I am just confused at the fact that medical is asked and at the same time his application is approved and closed. Could it be that the official letter that is in the mail will actually have the condition that you must pass medical? the approval letter in his online application makes no mention of approval on medical approval.

any thoughts?

Hi!

Sorry I really don't have an answer for you, I really have no idea. I would just like to know, if you don't mind me asking, when did he apply to extend his stay? How long did it take to get approved?

Visitor extension works like this , they approve it within 3/4 business days, and you will get the visitor record within 10 business days, but still the applicant has to go through the medical and I think there is a time frame of 60 days or so, same thing I have done for my mom. If the applicant does not go through the medical, no idea about the consequences. hope it helps.

The reason I am asking is because I have been waiting for 47 days and no response.

toronto30, thanks for your response.

lellen, my dad's application took total of 43 calendar days.
