Hello Friends,

Actually I have an offer for the work in Canada and I am member of AIESEC so I applied for the temporary work permit through Mycic under International Experience Canada. I am still waiting to hear from the gov. I have a question actually I am confusing about the processing time of my application. I have two points which I would to you ask you to clear please.

I applied for the: Temporary Foreign Workers (visitor's visa required)
About the visitor visa processing time is: 50 days
Temporary Work Permit processing time: 6 Months

I am confusing because which processing time will be applied for my application ? I applied for work but to get temporary work permit from the Pakistan its required visitor visa. Its really interesting question but its really most important for me.

Waiting for your response.

Many Thanks,
Sonu Ahmad

It will be:
Temporary Work Permit processing time: 6 Months

The visitor's visa will be included in your WP application. See here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-how.asp
Excerpts:
Passport and visitor visa

To work in Canada, you must meet the requirements for a work permit. You must also meet the rules to enter Canada. This means that you might also need a passport and a temporary resident visa (TRV), also known as a visitor visa.

The TRV is an official document that is put in your passport.

If you need a TRV, you do not have to apply for it separately or pay another fee. If we approve your work permit, we will issue you a visa at the same time as we issue the documents you need to enter Canada as a worker.

1. What is more interesting is that if you are a Pakistan citizen, there is NO IEC (International Experience Canada) program for Pakistan. See: http://www.international.gc.ca/experience/intro_incoming-intro_entrant.aspx

@PMM i wasn't aware of this, so just went through the link you posted.

To me it looks like, if you don't fall into one of the countries, THEN you look at the second option which says

"AIESEC is recognized by IEC"

"Can’t find your country in the list? Connect with one of these recognized organizations for other travel and work opportunities in Canada."

From the way it's written i didn't feel that you have to be one of LISTED countries to apply through AIESEC. There is nothing written specific to Pakistan here.

Can you clarify this please?

Hi Guys,

Thank you so much for the response. But I already mentioned in my question that I am member of AIESEC the recognized by IEC. To apply for work permit under IEC from the country listed on the CIC site processing time is 2 weeks only but due to I am from Pakistan and its NON-IEC country so Visitor visa required and on arrival in Canada work permit will be issued they will give me Point of Entry Introduction Letter that will help me to get work permit on arrival.

But my question is still there:
I applied for the: Temporary Foreign Workers (visitor's visa required)
The visitor visa processing time is: 50 days
Temporary Work Permit processing time: 6 Months

I am confusing because which processing time will be applied for my application ? I applied for work but to get temporary work permit from the Pakistan its required visitor visa so visitor visa will be issued for me so it should take 50 days not 6 months.

Hope you understand very well now.

Many Thanks

See my reply - the first one in the chain before the others posted the IEC related replies that may have side-tracked the question.
I am reprinting it here:

Note here you are applying for a work permit, not just a visitor visa, so the time of processing used will be for a work permit, not just for a visitors visa. So it is 6months.

@ragluf is right. It is work permit processing time which is six months from Pakistan.

Though i can tell you it varies greatly depending upon several factors, how good a case you have, complete and clear file, what time of year you apply because CIC is busy for study visa intakes for sep from may to july.

Right now CIC islamabad should be relatively free. Plus if you have a clear cut case, usually you would be done in 2-3 months.

For e.g. i can tell you that at least 3 work permit cases (with family) from Pakistan that i know personally got through in 2 months and few days. Those were for highly skilled jobs and clear cut profiles. At that time the average processing time listed (last year) on cic website for islamabad was 9 months. So if any thing it should improve now being 6 months.

CIC updates this every year / biannually based upon 80% or more of cases processed at that embassy.

Thank you so much guys. I think you are right it will take 6 months processing time. But hope to hear from them very soon with in 2-3 months. I was submitted my application on 22nd of July and its about 2 months almost passed already.

I will mention here when I will hear anything from the government.

Many Thanks,
Sonu Ahmad

Guys I applied for Temporary Foreign Workers (visitor's visa required) using AIESEC and submitted my application online on the CIC website so will it still process in the Islamabad ? can I call to Islamabad application processing center to know about my application status ? Any contact number of them ?

Thanks,
Sonu Ahmad

The processing times - in my opinion - should be used so set expectations and for forward planning. Use it to plan activities, and do not commit to anything such as travel plans, flight schedules - within that 6months. Should the application be completed much earlier, then you have added time.

Thank you so much once again. I will keep posting here once I will have anything new to ask or anything new to share. You are welcome to share your opinions and information.

Hello Again,

Its 2 months and few days passed but still do not hear anything from the embassy/gov yet. Any idea what's going on there ? How many chance to get success after a long time wait ?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Two months is certainly not a long time, and CIC islamabad does not update visa application status by phone.

You can submit a case specific inquiry (via cic isb website) or simply email on their email address (both are available at cic isb website).

They should at least be able to give you a file number if you haven't already. Then if 16 weeks average processing time is passed and you haven't heard from them, you should email them like once a month to ask for status update. If you do it too often, they would stop responding. On the other hand, if they missed sending you a notification for something they needed, it might go the other way. So safest method is to ping once a month.

I didn't ping them but once in two month and still waiting without disturbing them. Anyhow I have to wait till they respond me. Thank you guys I will keep you updated with my application.

Many Thanks

You realize that the posted processing time for work permits at Isbad is 6 months? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/workers.asp#asia and on their website 4 months?
