Been unemployed since April 2020, as i am from a Non tech/Non-IT background.
Is it even worth trying for a Work permit or PR for Canada considering my current profile?

Unemployed & doing Freelancing (just to survive) April 2020.
Oct 2019 - April 2020 = Started a Venture and had to wrap it up due to Covid lockdown in April. Couldn't migrate it to work from home as the work required field visits.
Sep 2014 - Mar 2019 = Worked as a Business Development Manager
And more previous experiences.

Dear Senior Members, please advise should i even consider trying any of those options for Canada Immigration? Will my current unemployment status be a major issue but honestly there was no other option.

Regards

If you are eligible to apply for Express Entry, then go for it. Unemployment has not effect as long as you have the work experience. Check eligibility through EE-FSW. Need ECAs and IELTS scores to submit a profile.

IELTS wont be an issue at all and neither ECA. Its simply the hesitation that i have of loosing money in processing fees due to rejection. Its feels like a unachievable task of competing with young tech applicants. Yes, i am in my thirties and that makes my case even weaker.

Calculate your estimated Express Entry score without doing IELTS and ECA. If you score 470+, then you have a decent chance. If not, then it will be more difficult and you may want to consider if it's the right path for you.

If you are in your 30s your score may be too low for Express Entry. If you have a masters, look at PNP programs. Or if really motivated, study in Canada.
