Hey guys,

We landed as Newcomers on 12th on June in Vancouver and handed bsf186a and bsf186 forms regarding goods to follow... to the officer, he said everything is alright and stamped the forms and gave us a copy and said we need to attach a copy of the goods to follow form to the Parcel that is going to be sent to us. our friend attached a copy of the form and sent the items to us from Germany and it's in Mississauga now and today I received a message from Canada Post that "The Canada Border Services Agency has determined that you'll need to pay duty and/or taxes when you receive your item. It will be delivered with a CBSA postal import Form detailing the duty, taxes, and handling fee owed, amount owed: $57.68"

We mentioned everything on the form and there is nothing in the box other than those items mentioned on the form. So why do we need to pay this amount?

Does letter mention items? What are these?
(Speculation)
Have they asked you to pay in person or by mail? You could ask for reasons through same channel. Either it is a misunderstanding or perhaps they assessed items to be not pre-owned.

It's possible that the CBSA officer was expecting you to arrange for a formal importation, rather than just mailed to you. You have effectively bypassed the reconciliation of the property with the stamped BSF168, which would have been done by a formal import.

Hi buddy, Thanks for your reply.
No, it doesn't mention any items and it's not a letter actually it's a notification that I received from Canada Post mobile app. It says the item will be delivered with a CBSA postal import Form detailing the duty, taxes, and handling fee owed. There is actually nothing in the box that seems new, it's just a bunch of old stuff like winter clothes and used electronic devices.
