Taxes in Nova Scotia

Just got my first pay cheque and was hit hard by taxes so now I need to know how to go about making sure I get all the credits I am entitled to. Where do I start? Is there a free tax service I can use?

I would even consider popping open an online tax filing service (like ufile.ca), and setting up a return - you only pay when you file the return, but it will give you an idea of the types of credits you can apply for.
