Taxes for refugees on welfare

Hi

Should refugees on weflare get a tax file? There is no income, just the monthly assistance! If yes, how should refugees receiving social assistance do that?? Is it mandatory to do it?

Welfare is an income. And yes you have to file your tax. You can get help using new comer centers. If it’s mandatory or not, I have no idea. Just file it.

You have to file it's mandatory...and there's a lot of places that can help you for free..the nearest library will be an idea,before the end of april..after that no tax can be fill..and please as an advice id you can work and stop the government assistance that will help you much much more

It is mandatory.Otherwise, you won't get child benefit if you have children or GST or Alberta Climate tax rebate if you live in Alberta.
