Hi,

I surely hope someone can help me out.
I am a canadian living abroad for the last 5 years. Not paying any TAX (non-resident). I got married and now would like to return to canada with my spouse (whom I am sponsoring) to resume residency.
My spouse has a substantial amount of cash that she would bring with her as a landing immigrant once we move back to Canada.

Would my wife have to pay any tax on that money of hers? Would it be considered as a family income that I would have to get taxed for?

Please advise,
K.
