Not sure I am searching prior posts correctly so I want to ask this.

I have Canada PR status. My employer has been sending me on field assignments outside Canada for long stretches (1-4 months) for the past few years.

For the purposes of counting the number of days resident in Canada to qualify for citizenship applications, I've seen posts on the net that imply that employer-assigned travel outside Canada do not apply to the number of days counted as present outside of Canada. I have seen posts in one of two ways- (1) that time counted outside Canada by a government employer does not count as time spent outside Canada and (2) time counted outside Canada by *any* Canadian employer does not count as time spent outside Canada so long as a home in Canada is maintained.

Was this rule different pre- vs post- C-24?

Thanks!

This rule is the same as it was before. You cannot count this time towards citizenship.
