Hello,

I am currently doing a co-op work term/internship as part of my studies. I have the co-op work permit and my study permit in Canada. Since the job is remote and my university is all online this semester, I also picked up 1 course from my university (0.50 credits).

I talked to enrolment services at my university to see if this would impact my eligibility for PGWP later on, and they said a co-op work term counts as full time at my DLI. Normally, we need 2.0 credits to be counted as full-time, but apparently the co-op work term itself makes me full-time. I am a little confused though, because my university made an "incentive" to international students, and they give $750 to full-time students in the Fall semester. However, I did not get this $750, which makes me worried that I am not actually counted as full time.

Has anyone had experience taking courses while doing co-op work term? Did this impact PGWP?

Nope, you're all good. You don't have to worry at all. You can definitely take courses while on co-op. Usually, universities limit how many courses you can take while on co-op. One thing you should keep in mind if that your load should be part-time. So, you can't take more than 2 courses while on co-op. Source: I am myself a coop student and have done 4 coop terms before. Currently, I am on my 5th co-op term and taking one online course.

Remember, you're not a full-time student since you're on co-op. Currently, you're on part-time load, that is, fewer than 3 courses.
