What do you think if the government is taking tounsands of Syrian refugees how it will affect all of us and slow us down?... Mulcair wants to takes 10 000 before 2016, Trudeau 25 000 and now Harper also agrees to take some? and then what about 2016?

Well I don't think they will be more officers working on applications... they will just take the current officers and process these refugees in priority.

It's sad situation for these people but as native Canadian as well as my father, grand-father great-father grand great-father etc etc etc... I should not be punish waiting to be reunited with my wife for so long.

I am not racist or anything but I didn't find any topics in this section regarding this subject so I thought I would start one and see what people think.

I don't blame Syrians for wanting a better life, and I think Canada should take some deserving people. However, I certainly agree that regular spousal applications should not be pushed aside to make way for refugees. I just don't have a lot of faith in how CIC is run. I think they need to hire a ton more people and delegate better. I can't understand why they don't hire more people with the current processing times? Does it really cost that much to hire a few more employees?

I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. :'(

Re: Syrian refugees coming to Canada

So apparently the new govt. plan is that 900 refugees per day will start arriving here December 1st.
A CIC rep. said to local farmers here that applications for foreign worker visas would be delayed due
to personnel being needed to process the refugees. This is not surprising. However, a friend of mine
is a licensed immigration consultant, and she said that there are different personnel for handling each
immigration department and that the Syrian refugees would not affect family sponsorship processing.

Does anyone know if all of our family sponsorship processing here in Canada will be put on hold Dec. 1st?

I doubt anyone will know, it's not like they would announce it anyway due to backlash. We'll find out as it happens.

Though it is worth noting, if they are arriving December 1st, then their processing has surely already began?
