Our application was received July 31, 2013. Approved to be a sponsor sometime late August. Application was sent to Sydney, Australia in September and mid October was when they started processing. Decision was made roughly on October 19 (or so).

When will we receive a letter (he is here in Canada on a visitor visa and we will cross the border when the confirmation eventually comes through)?

Jeez, that was fast!!

I assume an interview wasn't requested? Also, is there any other info on the CIC online site (i.e. Were medical results received).

If so, then it seems the typical wait, from what I've been reading here, is a couple of weeks, maybe even a month...I honestly do not know if it's longer for your spouse's area of the world or not. I can't even say for sure if the COPR will be sent to Canada or your spouse's home country (can I take an educated guess and say New Zealand? :) ).

The COPR will be sent to mailing address that the visa office has on file. If you didn't change the address to Canada when you came here as visitor, then the COPR will be sent to original mailing address (I assume in Australia). In this case you'll need to get a family member or friend to mail you the COPR to Canada, after it arrives.

Timing can range from 1 to 3 weeks. In our case it took 1 week to get to Canada, but this is because our app was actually approved a week earlier than the eCAS updated to "DM". So when they got around to updating eCAS, the COPR had already been in the mail for a few days.

New Zealand is correct (processed in Syd, Australia). Medical results were also received. I'm glad to hear it is fairly quick. No interview was requested and we submitted passport copies. :)

It did seem a bit strange that it was so quick. That is why I am somewhat worried. Though we did get an email saying that the permanent resident visa expires April 2014 (12 months from the medical). I presume that means he needs to land before then (which is no problem). Also, because it was so quick I wonder if the COPR will take extra long to come through. I just don't want to get my hopes up. I know we did have a solid application because we were dating for 4 years and got married about 8 months ago.

Hi, Let us know how long it takes to get your COPR from Sydney my passport arrived there yesterday. It would be nice to have someone to compare to!
Did you fill the appendix B out to say to receive it back via regular mail?

I will let you know. We were not required to submit original passports (copies were OK) and we were asked to email back appendix b with those copies. Within a day of emailing our status changed to "Decision Made" and we were given a date that I think he needs to land by (April 2014). The letter did not detail well what the next steps were. Glad to hear someone is in a similar place as us!

I asked to receive the visa letter by UPS, but I found that also confusing with regards to the prepaid options. I opened an account with UPS and authorized to be invoiced, but I'm not sure if that is enough so it may just come regular mail.

How come you sent your original passports?

Oh I didn't specify correctly I only sent the copy of my passport :) I have to April to land as well. So I'm hoping it comes back soon!

Ok that makes sense. Are you going to drive to the US and come back to land, or, I heard you might be able to go to an office in Canada to sign papers. My husband is here on a tourist visa right now, not sure about your situation but we may cross the border just to get it done faster.

Anyone know how often they update the online system? Our file has said "decision made" for over a week now. My understanding is there should be another line that shows up saying when the letter was mailed? Perhaps that is not always the case though.

Hi, I was just going to do the border crossing in January. I'm going away to the States for a few days over the New Year and thought I would re land then. However I just received a letter from CIC on Friday which requested that me and my sponsor attend a final interview, to bring 2 more photographs to process my PR card and my previous immigration document (IEC visa). I'm assuming this might be a landing interview.
