Sydney, Nova Scotia - May 2010 Application

Hi, I'm new in this site. It's been almost 2 years now since I submitted my application but below is what all I got. An email was sent to me on Nov. 2, 2010 but it never got to me. When I enquired about it I was told that it was just an acknowledgement.
Below is what appears in the progress of my application with a heading "Received by the Visa Office."
Can anybody share your experience/timeline? Thanks.

We received your application for permanent residence on May 14, 2010.

We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on November 2, 2010. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Your application and supporting documents were received by the Buffalo office. They are pending review.
