Hi all,

My friend holds both US and Canadian Permanent Residence. His Canadian PR is going to expire soon and he is going to surrender it before expiration(by filling out the form IMM5782E), since he is planning to settle in USA. I have two questions

1. In the form, it asks whether you hold permanent residence of any other country? Should my friend mention that he holds a US PR? Will this cause any problems? From what we've heard, the USCIS will ask you to surrender US PR if you have PR of any other country

2. The form also asks the date and place you became PR of Canada. Is that the date he received his PR(the date on the back of PR Card) or the date he actually entered Canada for the first time as a PR (i.e. Date on form IMM 5292: Confirmation of Permanent Residence)?
