I am from India and came to Canada in 2009. I went to India a couple months ago. Do i have to fill travel information about my trip to India. I am confused coz it says provide information about trip to countries outside country of origin( india) or country of residence (canada).

List all trips you, and if applicable, your family members have taken outside your country of origin or of residence in the last ten years (or since
your 18th birthday if this was less than ten years ago). Include all trips: tourism, business, training, etc. If you or your family member did not
travel outside of your country during this period, check "did not travel".

List every travel and visit you made in and outside Canada and India.. I did on my application (just to be on the safe side). There's no harm in mentioning this fact.

I would say not following the instructions is never a great idea, regardless. There's no reason to list trips to your country of Origin or Residence, as the instructions explicitly state not to.

It probably just makes the Visa officer more annoyed that the instructions weren't followed.

i'd say otherwise.. the purpose of the travel supp form is to document an applicant's whereabouts in the past ten years..it makes the VO understand better the applicant's case if he has more details on hand.

yes, even i agree that in the guide saying "country of origin or of residence in the past ten years" is CONFUSING and may give contradicting opinions.. travelling or going back home may or may not be considered by others as necessary to put down on the form, but being on the optimistic side, there isn't any reason why it's not worth mentioning.

Seton is correct. There is no ambiguity about this , the forms are clear.

The form explicitly mentions do not include trips to/from country of origin or country of residence.

No need to over complicate things, especially when there is no reason to do so. If the vo required the information, it would be asked for.

This is an older post, but I have a differing opinion on this. The form states country of origin "or" of residence. Which means it has to be one or the other. To put it simply, travel has to be entered if you were traveling away from where your residence was at that time.

For me, when I was living in my home country, I listed trips that I was taking away from there. Then I spent 5 years living in the US. So I listed trips I took away from the US while the US was my country of residence (these included trips back to my home country). This corresponds with my personal history where I've listed the US as my residence.

Finally, now I listed trips I took away from Canada (including those to my home country).
