SOS NEED URGENT ADVICE
LEAVING FEB 26

Hello everyone, I would really appreciate some advice.

My parents both hold a 10-year Canadian visitor visa, which will expire in April 2026. They usually visit Canada and return to Vietnam every 6–8 months. In 2021, I applied for an extension for both of them after business hours. My father’s extension was approved, but my mother’s application was refused because it said she had overstayed.

This time, they entered Canada in June 2025 and were authorized to stay until December 29, 2025. I submitted their visitor record extension application again on December 29. After calling Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, I was advised to also pay the restoration of status fee just in case, which I did.

They currently plan to return to Vietnam on February 26, but I am unsure what the best option is. My father also needs medical check-ups (eyes and lungs, as he has wheezing), so I am wondering whether it is better for them to return to Vietnam and apply for a Super Visa from there, or remain in Canada and continue extending their stay.
My main concern is whether leaving Canada while their restoration/extension applications are still in process could cause any issues for future applications, especially for a Super Visa. I am also worried about the impact of their previous refusal and possible overstay history, as well as the cost of changing their flights.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or can advise what would be the safest option for their immigration record
