Hi All,

I am Canadian PR moved last year. I am planning to apply for visitor visa for my father for short trip of 3 weeks. I am providing all financial support for visa related purposes. I am software development contractor started recently. I have a ongoing contract and some bank balance. If I put up the signed contract paper and bank account statements, will it suffice? Also my father is showing only his own apartment papers as his assets and not significant amount in bank. Is this sufficient?

Please help.

Sharma

The visitor (and not the host) must demonstrate that s/he has adequate finances for the visit.

To answer your question: No. It will not be sufficient.

Your dad can include other financial documents: FDs (do include a letter from the bank if these are not locked-in/no mortgage taken against it), RDs, shares/mutual funds, PPF, EPF, etc..... plus a good bank balance without borrowing from anyone

Cheers

Thanks Bryanna for your reply. But in his application he is mentioning that he is seeking financial support from me. And in application I have provide my financial statements. So still there is chance? I am sorry for asking again as I am desperate and I will not be able to show the money in his account.

But in his application he is mentioning that he is seeking financial support from me.
This will make his case weaker.

Please post:
1. How long does he intend to visit? Purpose of visit?

2. Is he employed/business/retired?

3. What strong ties can he prove with evidence: Property (is it rented? Any mortgage?) + immediate family who live with him + any financial investments or pension?

4. Any previous travel history?

I did not want to take him any extra financial burden. So I am paying for all the trip.

Please post:
1. How long does he intend to visit? Purpose of visit?
He is planning to visit for three weeks.

2. Is he employed/business/retired?
He has a business which is running for the last 8 years. He has to get back to continue business. He is the lone person looking after it.

3. What strong ties can he prove with evidence: Property (is it rented? Any mortgage?) + immediate family who live with him + any financial investments or pension?
He has his business and own apartment. My mom ans sister are not not travelling as my sister is in college. My grand mother is also in India but different city. My uncles and aunts (totally 4) all in India. He is proving bank statements both savings and business that might sum up to 1.5 lakhs.

4. Any previous travel history?
None. THis is his first time coming outside country.
Hi Bryanna,

Thank you so much for taking time in answering questions. Please find the info required in red.

Hi,

Although you will pay for every aspect of his visit..... for his TRV application, he must be able to prove that he has a good financial situation. This will prove that he will not overstay his visit.

IMO, with a combined personal + business bank balance of INR 150,000.... it shows a weak financial situation. I would recommend that he should apply when he is able to show at least around INR 250,000.

Maybe his business bank balance will increase after Diwali and year-end sales?? As your dad's bank balance is low + he does not have any financial investments, maybe your dad can apply after a few months instead of applying now.

He has a business which is running for the last 8 years. He has to get back to continue business. He is the lone person looking after it.
Do include business registration documents + 2 years ITRs (even if it is 'Nil Returns') + business bank statements + any VAT/Service Tax returns + office lease agreement + recent POs and customer payment receipts, etc

and own apartment.
Do include property ownership documents + latest property tax receipts + self-valuation/valuation by a CA + market realty reports to back the indicative market value stated in the valuation

My mom ans sister are not not travelling as my sister is in college.
Proofs they live at the same address + they are dependent on your dad

Apart from this:
1. Do prepare a well planned day-by-day itinerary for sightseeing, meeting friends/relatives, etc.... and not just to meet you

2. Include a must-return-to-India by a specific date + relevant evidence

3. Plan his visit around holidays in India.... and explain that he can take more time off from his business because of his holidays + explain who will manage his business temporarily when he is away

Cheers
