Thanks for all the tips and advise. At least I'm going to see him before the interview. And it's another trip he can show more evidence of.

We don't look like were 10 years apart in age and he knows no one but me in Canada. He wants to come to Canada for me and that's it. I don't make a lot of money either and I'm not a lonely old lady that needed attention from a young guy haha. We met by chance and we've made to work. I know he will be fine in the interview but I know These IOs can be tough and tricky. As for the language barrier, I don't know what he can say about that. We use translators and help each other to learn our languages. We laugh a lot about it and it's been quite fun! And sometimes we just simply understand each other.

Another question; can he be denied based in my income? I know normally it's not the case but they asked for my notice of assessment and I already sent it with the application?

No can/alb he will not be denied based on your income. You have already been approved to sponsor. One less thing to stress about at least :D! Blessings.

Hello again can/alb I just re-read your other post and sorry for not catching it originally, but did you say that they asked for your notice of assessment in the interview letter? Even though you sent an option c printout with the application? If so, that is something I have not read about before, not that you should worry; however, I just am not able to respond to that specific situation. If that is the case, it may be best for you to re-post your question back in the main thread with a more detailed topic title. That way it gets seen by others who may have that same situation. What exactly did the interview letter say?

This is the email we received. I sent in both notice of assessment and option c. Even though there the same thing I wanted to make sure I had everything.

This refers to your application for Permanent Residence in Canada. To continue with the processing of your application, you are kindly requested to attend an interview at the new office of the Honorary Consulate of Canada, Tirana, at the following time:

Day: Friday Date: 22 November 2013 Time: 08.00

Please bring this letter, your passport and the following documents:

- Notification Of Assessment for 2012 for sponsor

This will be a selection interview, therefore the invitation does not guarantee that your application for permanent residence will be approved. Do not make any arrangements to sell your property at this time.

Another odd thing is I checked my ecas today and it says interview scheduled for November 21!!! The email says November 22

Hello can/alb, thanks for clarifying. Now I can say with certainty that I have never read about anyone else getting asked to bring a "notification of assessment" to an interview; however, I am sure other members will be able to shed some light. And the interview date mix-up between the letter and e-cas, yikes! I would send a case specific enquiry (CSE) to your visa office (VO) letting them know this situation and asking them to confirm. That way you have your own follow-up in writing (proof of your due diligence). I think I would go with the date on the letter though unless they confirm otherwise.

The next thing I would do is post a question back in the main thread with a title like: " Seniors pls. help - interview requested sponsor's Notice of Assessment - Why?" and insert the letter with a summary of your situation and VO so people can respond. By asking for the help of seniors, more experienced forum members will be (hopefully) flagged to look at it and direct you better.

Also in an earlier post a member named Zardoz asked if you had any idea about why they might have called for an interview. I would go back and reply to that post and see if she/he can help as well. If you do not get any replies then send a personal message (PM) to one or more of the senior members and they may respond that way. The ones that are popping into my mind are Sweden, PMM, Leon, Frege and there are many others as well. You can search them by name. Let me know if I can assist with anything else. Blessings.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions and guiding me :). I really do appreciate it.

I am 9 years older than my husband with two kids from a previous marriage. Guess we should get ready to be called for an interview too! Best of luck to you and your husband. Please keep us posted

You are most welcome my dear, it is a very nerve wracking process and the whole point of this forum is to support each other and be helpful whenever possible. I will say a prayer for your interview to go positively ;). Blessings.

I've been reading this thread since Tuesday. And tonight I have a chance to share our story :)

Background:

My husband is 32 years older than me:)
I am 30 and he is 62.
I arrived in canada under a work permit in june 2009. 2 weeks after, i met my (now husband for 3 years and 1 month).
We got married on sept. Of 2010
Applied inland in nov. 2010
File tranferred from vegreville to edmonton in oct. 2011
Reasons: age gap, short courtship, doubting if our marriage is genuine, asking if i'm married back home. That i did not declare my son when i applied for a visa to come to canada.

Month after the transfer, we submitted everything we could to prove that our martiage is true, genuine and authentic. We did this every month until april of 2013.

Aug. 30, 2013 - we received a call in notice from cic edmonton asking us for interview. The requirements the io requested : lease/ rent agreement, pictures from wedding, trips etc., t4, notice of assessment, t1 , paystubs, bills, and option c and bank statements(Most of the req. were tax related, it's probably because the io want to make sure that we have money to provide for our dependent)

Sept. 12,2013- interview day- we arrived at cic edm very prepared! Did not even feel nervous at all! We are confident and we know that what we need to do is to show who we really are!

My interview lasted for 1 hr and 15 min.
Questions asked:
What is my name, bday, my parents name
What is my husbands name, birthday, parents name, siblings and where they live.
Where and when we meet?
Who proposed, describe the moment
When and where is our wedding?
How many people attended? Names of attendees, reception?
1st date? Where when, what we ordered?
Are we sexually active?
Do we want to have kids?
Name of my son, names of my husbands daughter, names of grandkids
How is the relationship between my husband and son

And then suddenly the io stopped typing because she said the computer stopped working. So we started again from the very beginning. I think for me this is to test if i will answer the questions the same thing.

Then, she asked me 3 times in different ways , where do i work, she probably want to make sure that i am not working anywhere else.

Describe our apartment
Who pay bills ?
Where does my husband work?
How much salary?
Do i send money to my home country? How much?
She asked if I'm in Canada
Asked if i have a criminal record or convicted

At the end of the interview, she just said that the only reason why our file was transferred is because of our age gap. Then i said, i know! Lol! I said that , when we applied in 2010, we did not even know that there are red flags like that. What we presented them is the real us!

Then i showed some personal stuff like the crosstitch i made as a birthday gift for my husbands grand daughter, cards from friends and family. Our wedding invitation.

And that's it!

Then it's my husband's turn!!

His interview lasted for 45 minutes. And he was asked the same questions and he answered the same as mine with a little bit of elaboration :) lol!

When the io told him that our file was tranferred because of age gap, he told the io that this has been happening eversince, just like cleopatra and julis ceasar, charlie chaplin and his wife oona etc. etc. that was the killer answer! Lol!
The io was smiling while typing this my husband said!

All in all the interview went well! The atmosphere inside the interview room was very non threatening, it was actually full of laughter. Me and my husband are very happy people by nature! So i think we really gave a positive vibes inside the interview room.

Exactly 1 month after the interview, oct12,2013, i received an email requesting for medical examination. Then aip and owp arrived on oct. 16.

Did my medical yesterday :)

Now waiting for 2nd stage approval. I know it will still be long process because i have a dependent back home. But it's alright! I always believe in GOD's perfect time!

When u go to the interview, just be yourself! You know yourself and ur spouse than anybody else! Just be honest with the answers. Look the interviewer straight to the eye.

That's it! Goodluck with everything!

Thank you for sharing your experience!
I would probably be called to an interview as well :'( , since my husband is 27 years older than me
may I ask if you provided a lot of photos with your app ?

Yes we did provide them pictures in our application but the thing is they questioned it because most of our pictures before we kinda take pictures of each other, you know how hard to take pictures together right?.. So they questioned why are we not together on the picture (Which for me is a dumb question) we were obviously on the same location (same weather, same background) so on the submission we sent to Cic _Edmonton, we sent a LOT as in a LOT. me and him on the picture and with friends and family. we actually bought a tripod :) lol

did they transfer your file to the local office?
