I received my BIL and need to travel to Italy for biometrics because there is no VAC in my current country of residence, Malta. My bigger concern is the eventual PPR (if approved). Since there's no VAC in Malta, the PPR letter will likely instruct me to submit my passport to the nearest VAC in another country. This would mean staying there for potentially weeks, which is costly and logistically difficult.

Has anyone been in this situation?
  1. How long did it take to get the passport back?
  2. Did you have to stay in the neighboring country for the entire passport processing/stamping time?
  3. Were you able to use any courier options to avoid an extended stay?
I would be grateful for any insights!
