Sorry to hear about your situation, tough times. Having said that, the documents are pretty clear when it comes to social assistance, a sponsor cannot be on it except for disability, sorry!

Dont apply for Social assistance, Instead just go to local food bank for groceries etc.... They can help you with all this! look for places who can help u.. DONT need to apply for social assistance and BTW she can only do so when she is unemployed ? You said she is working two shifts so i guess she have 2 jobs? I dont think u can even apply for social assistance. Just go to ur local unitedway/food bank branch!!!!!

Thanks for all your support guys but Im the one working two shifts and more... she can´t get a job due to my baby girl being too little to be baby-seat. I guess Im giving up hopes guys, im just too exhausted...

DON"T GIVE UP!! How does it help your wife and child for you to give up?! There are lots of monetary benefits in Ontario for mothers with small children - make sure that she is collecting all of the benefits that she's eligible for. There are maternity benefits (EI) that she may be eligible for if she was working prior to the birth of the child. Even if she wasn't working, she's eligible for Federal government benefits like the Canada Child Tax Benefits (CCTB), Universal Child Care Benefits (UCCB), and HST rebates! Including her maternity benefit, my daughter (who has a 4 month old child) is getting almost $1400 per month. There are also benefits like free diapers and food through her local food bank that can save her hundreds of dollars a month.

There is no reason a mother in Ontario should be completely broke and looking at social assistance! Check out the CRA and Service Ontario sites I linked to and make sure that she's not overlooking money that she's entitled to before you consider ruining your immigration application over social assistance. Which embassy is processing your application? If you've been in process for over a year, you could be close to the end.

YES, CALL CRA, CALL ONTARIO GOVERNMENT, CALL LOCAL FOOD BANKS! I totally agree. DO NOT GIVE UP!

You said you're paying for your lawyer.. assuming the lawyer is for immigration, can you discontinue his services? Just a suggestion, lawyers are expensive.

I guess its all about waiting now
