Hi guys,

There is a chance that my application might get returned due to not filling out a form correctly. It is currently a common law application that was sent in Dec. I got married last week.

Will we have to re-do the whole application as a spouse application instead, or can we just send it back and add to the application by including the marriage cert. and wedding photos?

If it does not get returned, do I just wait for AOR then update them with the certificate?

Thanks

I am pretty sure you will need to update all the forms if you are married when you re-submit. There are a lot of questions that ask if you are married or common law and it would not be accurate to answer common law if you are now married. Keep in mind if you resubmit after it’s sent back, it’s like you never submitted the first one.

If your package does not get returned, you'll need to update your status with CIC though through webform.
At that point CIC would send instructions of what additional documents/forms would be needed .

KHB - oh yes you're right about the multiple questions about marriage - forgot. Thanks!

Ok so sounds like it will end up being a whole new application package

Do you know if it would be ok having support and reference letters being dated from Sept./Oct. if I was to re-submit them later on?

I had the app returned in Dec. after it was intially submitted in Nov. so our family/friends dated their letters a while back. Should I bother to include a letter explaining the reason for dates being so far back in the past or is that something that the case officer doesnt pay much detail to?

I understand that if an application is returned, it would be like it was never submitted. Does this mean that if we were to go to Canada that CBSA would not see that attempt at a PR application was made when husband tries to enter as a visitor?

Thanks jordo, that's simple enough then.
