Good morning everyone,

My friend is looking to come study ESL in Canada And I want to make sure she has enough funds for her application to be approved. I understand normally, when people apply for any post grad program, there is a 10k GIC required but I am wondering how much is required for ESL and what documents are best to use as proof of funds in this situation. At the moment, the consideration is 7 months (28 weeks) of study. I also understand that if you’re studying under 6 months you don’t need a study permit. Would studying 24 weeks be easier to get the visa approved?

At the end of the day, the end goal is for her to get approved to come study ESL. Please advice what the best way to go about this is, your input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

This is the breakdown of the tuition fees for the schoool I’ve been looking at:

*each level is 8 weeks

4 weeks-$1,140
8 weeks-$2,260
12 weeks-$3,360
16 weeks-4,440
20 weeks-$5,500
24 weeks-$6,540
28 weeks-$7,560
32 weeks-$8,560
36 weeks-$9,540
40 weeks-$10,500
44 weeks-$11,440
48 weeks-$12,360

Try to do with a university and as a pathway to a university program, you need to prepare a good sop for this.

The school I researched is a DLI and also offers path university; however I’ll look into the universities as suggested. Also, if applying for a program shorter than 6 months to just use the visitor visa, would be hard to get approved as well?

It depends on your entire profile. Many of these language schools may not be running because they have to meet covid regulations.
