Study while on Open Work Permit

I am doing my PhD in Canada. Because i am a student my wife has an Open Work Permit. Now she would like to take some courses for CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant). Can she apply for study permit within Canada, and what will happen with her Open Work Permit? Thank you! Any recommendation, how to make it properly?

If the course is six month or less she can just do it, if its more she would need a study permit and her work permit would go away, because students cant work more than 20 hours/week.
