Hi guys, I will have my pr status in near future in QC and I would like to get my niece for primary education. What are the steps involved? I have heard conflicting opinions about adoption versus sponsorship. I am advised to apply for her study permit as I can't sponser her. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you

We've already explained to you in the family class section of the forum repeatedly that you cannot sponsor her for PR - even if you adopt her - since her parents are still alive. If you insist on trying - no one can stop you. However the sponsorship is going to be refused. Once the refused sponsorship is on record, it will become much more difficult to obtain a study permit for her.

The only option available is a student visa. The first step will be to have a school in your area agree to take her on as a student. The next step is to apply for the study permit. You or her parents will have to demonstrate that you can pay for the $14K/year tuition + living expenses.

Thank you. I am looking for details on getting study permit with me as a guardian.
