How's it going, everyone? I live in India and I applied for a study permit in December last year. I got my refusal in march. The only reason on my letter was that the officer was not satisfied I'd leave Canada after my studies, based on the purpose of my visit.

Here's my educational background:

1) 9.8 CGPA in 10th Grade
2) 93% in Higher Secondary School
3) Graduated with a 7.07 CGPA in Computer Science Engineering, Bachelor of Technology

Despite my bachelor's in Computers, I am passionate about music and have been a freelance Music Producer and Audio Engineer for almost 8 years now. My works are on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, and pretty much everywhere. I opted to study Audio Production and Engineering at Metalworks Institute, Mississauga. Got accepted and attended 3 months' worth of classes from January to March.

P.s I applied through SDS, had a GIC for 10,000 CAD and paid my first-year tuition fees in full.

I have attached my SOP below, can someone please help me understand where I went wrong?

Also, I applied for GCMS notes through an agent, but it's been over 3 months now and they still haven't gotten my notes.

Subject: Statement of Purpose to support my Study Permit December 12, 2021
Respected Visa Officer,

I am planning to pursue a diploma course "Audio Engineering and Production" at Metal Works Institute, Mississauga, Canada. I have always been interested in music. I grew up listening to songs every day and by the time I was in school, started producing my own music. I was intrigued by the engineering side of music after noticing a huge difference in the quality of sound in the songs I produced, compared to those produced professionally. Thus began my journey. I started learning more about Audio Engineering and Production and realized I was quite good at it, which helped me decide that this was the career I wanted to pursue. To learn more about the technical and creative aspects of music and the music industry in general, I have enrolled myself for the said diploma course.

Education:

After completing 10th standard at Vikas the Concept school in CBSE curriculum with a CGPA of 9.8, I studied secondary school for 11th and 12th standard at Vidyadham Junior College (Telangana State Board, India) with an aggregate of 93%. Further, pursued a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science and Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, India with a CGPA of 7.07

Work Experience:

I started producing music as a hobby. I have published a few tracks through Brolab records and Smart phenomena records. I have also worked as a freelance Audio Engineer & Music Producer for various artists from 2016 - 2021.

Hobbies:

Reading Books on
Self-development
Gaming
Cooking

Why Canada:

Canada is one of the top ten music industries in the world and produced many internationally renowned artists. Canada provides opportunities to learn and collaborate within the music fraternities around the globe. Therefore I have chosen Canada, which is the perfect place to learn the various facets of music besides meeting like-minded people.

Why Metalworks Institute:

Metalworks Institute has been successful in the music field for more than 40 years. They have collaborated with numerous partners for their technical protocols and curriculum. I understood from social media that the instructors in this institute are friendly and that the institute offers hands-on learning in a systematic way. Based on my analysis, Metalworks is the perfect place to learn how the music industry works. It is also one of the top-rated colleges in Canada for Audio Engineering and Music Production. These are the primary factors that led me to choose Metalworks for a Diploma in Audio Production and Engineering.

Language Ability:

I took the academic version of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test and scored an overall band of 8.0. To break down the score, I secured 8.5 in Listening, 8.5 in Reading, 6.5 in Writing, and 7.5 in Speaking, respectively.

Future Goals:

My aim is to become an accredited audio engineer/music producer in the international music industry through collaboration with talents across the globe. With an increase in demand for skilled, efficient audio engineers with great knowledge of music, all over the world, I am confident that I would be able to rise through the ranks and achieve my goals.

My ultimate goal is to set up a chain of recording studios in India, starting at home. My father owns a few properties in India and one of these properties is where my first studio will be set up. Opening up a studio will help me filter through local talent and help those really passionate to become better artists while helping me earn money and improve my professional network.

Eventually, I would like my chain of studios to evolve into an entertainment network with everything needed to produce Hit Records, in-house.

Financial Support:

I have paid my tuition fee in full (CAD 20,800) and obtained a GIC certificate from CIBC by depositing CAD 10,000 to cover my living and miscellaneous expenses. I have attached a copy of my loan sanction letter to this document for your reference.I appreciate your time to process my application and I am willing to provide further clarification, if necessary.

Regards,
XXX

Also, I just applied to Recording Arts Canada, Montreal for a similar program, that also teaches stage lighting and live sound. How would I go about writing an SOP this time? Especially considering I will not be applying through SDS?

Just to make sure, are you aware that you won't qualify for a PGWP if you attend Metal Works Institute? This school gives you no work permit and no path to PR.
