Hi

This is quiet urgent I am in South Africa and applied for the Child and Youth worker program at Humber (A 4 year course).

A few weeks ago on a follow up email they informed me I was accepted, BUT their system has a problem and cannot send out the acceptance letter for a few weeks (still waiting). According to the estimated processing time my study visa may take up to 15 weeks and my course starts in Jan next year. I have read that you cannot apply for a study permit from within Canada but can I apply for a visitor visa and study permit then fly over get our things sorted out and collect it in Canada when its ready? The idea of getting the permit a day or so before classes start and then flying and trying to get my kids sorted out is giving me nightmares. Please I dont know what to do any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

You're worrying far too early.

It's true that you cannot apply for a study permit within Canada. However if you submit your application from outside of Canada in September - you should have a decision before your classes start in January. The visa office in your home country processing your study permit application will need access to your passport. If you are approved, you'll need to provide your passport to that specific visa office even if you are in Canada.

I think it is fair to worry whether your study permit will be approved or not - and whether your kids will be approved for a visitor visa to accompany you. However you obviously won't know this until you apply.
