Hello,

I submitted a study permit extension application in Canada on May 10, 2023. On July 8, I received a letter requesting additional documents, specifically the payment receipt for the $85 biometric fee. Following the instructions, I paid the fee online and uploaded the receipt to my CIC GC account. The deadline for submission was August 7, 2023.

As of today, November 30, I have not received any communication or feedback since uploading the receipt. I am concerned about the lack of response and wonder if I might have made an error in the document submission process. I planned to visit my family in Morocco in December, but I'm hesitant to leave if it could impact my ability to return.

I initiated the application process while in Canada. Can you provide guidance on whether the delay is typical and if there's any indication that I may have made a mistake in uploading the biometric fee receipt? I'm seeking advice on how to handle this situation and whether it's appropriate to reach out to immigration authorities for clarification.

Do you have a valid TRV? The study permit doesn’t allow you to enter Canada, only study in Canada.

As for delay were you elgible for extension. Most timelines for extensions are 5-6 months.

No, I had a valid Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) that was aligned with the duration of my previous study permit, which expired on August 31. Despite having a valid TRV, I'm currently facing a delay in the processing of my study permit extension. I started my paper extension process with the Quebec acceptance certificate, which was granted after a few weeks, now I'm waiting for my study permit so I can apply for a visa.
