Hello all,

My study and work permits are expiring the 31st of December and I will be flying to Canada the 27th of December for a coop internship. I am little worried that the border officer will deny me entry because of that.

I want to renew my existing permit so the officer can see that I have an application being proceeded. But by the time my application gets proceeded, I will be back in Canada . Then, to get my study permit I will have to go at a port of entry, therefore I will have to exit Canada and come back??

I called the international student department of my university and they told me that as long as my permit is valid, I will be granted entry and then I can apply for extension from inside Canada. But i'm not sure if I can trust them 100%, it's a big call..

I know I should have applied months ago. I actually started the procedure in early October but it took more than a month to get some documents from my uni and my CAQ. And here I am.

Thank you for your help.

What I was also thinking of doing:
- Submit an application from outside Canada to show the border officer than I do not intend to stay illegally after my permits expire
- Once I'm in Canada, cancel it and start an application from inside Canada
